From the Principal - Important Information

Dear Nashoba Families -

This Monday marked an exciting moment for us at the high school; our staff and teachers have returned to the building. This week has been full of authentic collaboration, professional learning, and genuine enthusiasm as staff prepare to welcome their students.

As we get ready for the start of school, we want to ensure students are able to get books/course materials in a timely manner. This coming Friday, September 11th, we will be asking guardians of students with last names starting with A-K to come to the high school for a drive-thru book pickup. On Tuesday, September 15th, materials can be picked up by students with last names starting with L-Z. Freshmen will be given their course materials and a new Chromebook during New Chieftain Day, on Monday, September 14th (they should remember to bring their old Chromebooks to drop off). Freshmen who are not attending New Chieftain Day can pick up their books/course materials on the appropriate day (Friday or Tuesday) depending on last name. Please follow the attached schedule.

We ask that guardians and students to review our Remote Learning Handbook. It includes important information about details about our remote learning schedule, how students will engage in both synchronous and asynchronous learning throughout each day, and general expectations for remote learning. The guidance in this handbook will continue to be revised as we receive feedback from all of you, and acts as an addendum to the NRHS Student Handbook.

We’ve had a number of families inquire about parking. While we are remote, we will not have parking passes. Students who are coming into school can park anywhere in the student parking lot. Once we come back to school in either a hybrid or full in-person model, we will continue to do parking permits as we have in the past. Seniors in good standing will get the first opportunity to buy the passes. Juniors in good standing, who are interested, will be put in a lottery for any spots we have left. We will also adjust pricing as soon as we know when we'll be coming back, and we may find more opportunities to adjust numbers if in a hybrid model. We will send out more information when we know more.

Students’ schedules will go live on Powerschool on Tuesday, and teachers will be contacting the students in each of their classes in the next week or so to invite them to their Google Classrooms. The first day of school is September 16th, and teachers are looking forward to meeting with all of their classes virtually!

New Chieftain Day

Freshmen who are attending New Chieftain Day are asked to arrive in the Auditorium Parking Lot no earlier than 10 minutes before the start of the designated time slot that they chose. Students will be picked up exactly at the ending time of their designated session in the Student Parking Lot to the left of the high school. Students are expected to wear masks and exercise proper social distancing at the event as directed by orientation staff members.

At the beginning of the event, student’s chromebooks, chromebook accessories, and case will be collected upon arrival. At the conclusion of the event, students will receive new chromebook kits and class materials before departure. Due to the large number of materials being distributed, parents/guardians will be directed to designated locations in the student parking lot. Once materials are distributed, cars will be directed to the exit of the parking lot.

Things to bring:

  • Old Chromebook (including accessories and case)

  • Water

  • Bag to collect 2020 School Materials and New Chromebook Kit

We are looking forward to a great event!
