February 3, 2017 - ETR-IEP Training for SLPs (8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.)

Speech and Language Therapists attend this session to learn more on how to strengthen a compliant and results-driven I.E.P. The focus of this session will be on the development of compliant, student-centered, and results-driven Individual Education Programs (IEPs). There will be specific emphasis on PLOPs (Present Levels of Performance), Goals, Specially Designed Instruction (SDI), and LRE (Least Restrictive Environment).

February 7, 2017 - Resident Educator Task Force (4:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.)

Join this group of Resident Educator Coordinators and Lead Mentors to discuss, share and reflect on district Resident Educator programs. Keep up to date on current state information and design district collaborative efforts to meet the needs of Resident Educators and Mentors.

February 8, 2017 - School Counselor Forum (11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.)

The School Counselors will be meeting at Zane State College this month. Lori Lee, Tiffany Bettinger and Alicia Stockler will lead a discussion on Google Docs. February 9, 2017 - Plan for Student Success on the ACT (Day 2 ) - High School ELA and Social Studies (8:30a.m.- 3:00p.m.)

Plan for student success on the ACT with Dr. Bill Stewart. Connect and collaborate with colleagues to create instructional experiences that integrate ACT questions and problems. Attend this 2-day session and learn:


  • · ACT Enhancement Strategies (time management, practice material availability, examples from each area, scoring procedures, anxiety management, and realistic goals)
  • · Specific strategies to pose questions/problems that focus on ACT content.
  • · Ways to take the ACT environment and integrate into the classroom.

February 10, 2017 - Gifted Intervention Specialists (8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.)

Do you have a passion for gifted students? Gifted intervention specialists, administrators with gifted responsibilities, and other district personnel will meet to discuss current trends in gifted education and share instructional strategies and materials.

February 16, 2017 - Initial Cluster Training- Session 2 (8:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.)

Differentiated Curriculum/Readiness Training

· Become knowledgeable about the effective use of contracts and anchor activities to extend student learning

· Using Ohio’s New Learning Standards, learn how to differentiate curriculum content lessons/units so the learning needs of the gifted and other students are met

· Review commercially developed curriculum materials for the gifted

· Develop differentiated lessons for use in the classroom

Teachers, paraprofessionals, therapists, and parents attend this session to learn about LAMP Words for Life for Accent: Vocabulary Review, Programming, and Basic Implementation.

February 27, 2017 - Curriculum Council (8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.)

Join this collaborative of Curriculum Directors to discuss, share, and reflect on current educational practices in curriculum, instruction and assessment. Explore leadership topics and gain ideas from other district leaders!

February 27, 2017 - Meet Steven Newman, A World Walker (12:30p.m. to 3:00p.m.)

MVESC Superintendents, Curriculum Directors, Principals and the MVESC Leadership Team meet Steven Newman, the first person documented to walk solo around the world. In 1983, the journalist set out from his Bethel, Ohio, home and traversed five continents and over 20 countries in four years. Steven is the author or co-author of three books, he has given over 2,300 speeches to universities, schools, churches, companies, and other groups. Steven continues his travels as he is just returned from climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. Come and listen to the inspiring stories of Steven's travels. He will be speaking about the world as he saw it and dealing with the unexpected.
