FVE News
Summer Edition
Hello Frontier Valley Families,
We hope that you and your family are enjoying this summer. It is exciting to think about the start of the 2021-22 school year at FVE! Our building is looking great, thanks to the efforts of our building engineer, Mr. Maurice, DCSD operations & maintenance, and our staff. Because of the generous donations to our PTO through our Boosterthon Fun Run in the spring, each classroom is getting an audio amplification system installed this week. These systems will allow the teacher’s voice to be heard throughout the classroom through a wireless microphone. It is our hope that students will be able to hear and understand the instruction more clearly this coming year. We appreciate our community supporting our school through our PTO fundraising efforts. If you are looking for opportunities to be involved in our PTO this year, please reach out to our Frontier Valley Educational Alliance (FVEA) president, Anne Connolly @ aac1010@gmail.com
We know that your child is excited to find out which teacher they have been assigned to for the coming school year. You will be able to see the class assignments in the Parent Portal the week of July 19th. Our school will send out additional communication once rosters are uploaded for parent viewing. We have taken great care in our classroom placement process and have a wonderful group of teachers at FVE. We are confident that your child will have a successful year at Frontier Valley.
Please read the information below for details regarding the beginning of the year. It is a pleasure to open the school year up and welcome all of our little buffaloes back to FVE soon!
Cheerfully,
Kiersten Hall
Principal, Frontier Valley Elementary

Arrival & Dismissal Procedures
Arrival:
Frontier Valley follows a ‘soft start’ process for student arrival in the morning. School doors will open for students from 8:20am-8:35am. Please keep students in your care until Frontier Valley staff supervision begins at 8:20am. We will continue to use specific doors for student entrance closest to the grade level classrooms. Kindergarten and third grade students will arrive through the playground/blacktop doors. First and second grade students will enter through the front doors of the school, and our fourth and fifth grade students will enter the building through the bus loop/mobile classroom doors.
Dismissal:
Our youngest buffaloes in kindergarten and first grade will dismiss a few minutes ahead of the rest of our herd at 3:20. Kindergarten and first grade teachers will supervise students in the front of the building by the flagpole and wait for parents to pick up students (parents in these grades may park and meet the teacher in the designated area). Children in grades 2nd-5th will dismiss at 3:25. Car riders will be waiting on the sidewalk near the field with their teacher until their ride comes through the lane. It helps our staff if a sign is placed on the passenger window with your child’s name and grade written in large bold letters. A staff member will call students to your car as you enter the car lane. Please close the gaps in the car lane during pick up, so that we may load students more efficiently.
Safety
With safety being our number one priority, we wanted to remind all drivers to be careful in the school zone. Please avoid parking close to the crosswalks on Canterberry Trail. Our students have a hard time seeing traffic around parked cars too close to the crosswalk. We want to ensure that all of our little buffaloes arrive safely to school. In addition, U-turns in the school area are very dangerous, please help keep our school zone safe for all.
DCSD Pet Policy
Although we LOVE our pets, please remember that dogs are not allowed on campus (with the exception of service animals). Please keep dogs on the perimeter of school grounds (fence line on Canterberry Trail or tree line on the field). This is a DCSD policy for all schools.
