Come See Abe and Stephen Debate!
How will you make the decision without seeing this?
The Big day is coming and we have the inside with quotes from the two!
What Lincoln has to say:"'A house divided against itself cannot stand.' I believe this government cannot endure permanently half slave and half free. I do not expect the Union to be dissolved -- I do not expect the house to fall -- but I do expect it will cease to be divided."
What Douglas had to say: ". . .that is good doctrine, but Mr. Lincoln is afraid to advocate it in the [north Illinois antislavery] latitude of Chicago, where he hopes to get his votes. It is good doctrine in the anti-abolition [southern Illinois] counties for him. . . .Let me ask him why he cannot the same in the North as in the South--the same in every county, if he has a conviction that they are just?"
There is just a snip-bit of what you will be hearing from these amazingly intelegent men. Who knows, maybe you will change your mind, but you can't be left out and vote for the wrong man so get on over to the event of the century!
