A Message From Mrs. Acosta
Hello Hart Families,
This has been a great week at Hart Elementary. I want to take a moment to personally thank you for sharing your children with me. As a mom of two boys, I know it is important to me to make sure they are always in good hands and I can assure you this Hart staff loves these kids. It is truly an honor to be able to serve as the interim principal. I am loving the high fives, hugs, and hellos when I see the kids during arrival and in the hallways and classrooms. It is always my top priority to make sure students feel safe and loved. I truly will treat your kids as if they are my own. I included three pictures that I shared with the students and staff over announcements of my family; my husband David, sons, Anthony (15) and Aaron (14), and my furbaby, Alfie. I look forward to partnering with all our Hart families and thank you again for the warm welcome.
We have some exciting events coming up. Tomorrow, we have Reading with the Leopards in the morning, along with our Veteran's Day assembly put on by our sensational 2nd graders. If you are attending tomorrow's assembly, please make sure you give yourself time to sign in, especially if you did not utilize the Fast Pass. Remember to have your driver's license with you at check in with the front office. We ask that parents attending to arrive between 9:00 am - 9:20 am. You will check in with the front office and head to the gym area where there is seating. We will be calling our students down to the gym beginning at 9:20 am so we can start promptly at 9:30 am. We ask that parents and guests wait until we have dismissed all of our students before checking out so we can ensure all of our students are with their teachers. We will hold second graders in the gym for a couple of minutes after we have dismissed the other grade levels so 2nd grade parents have the opportunity to take pictures before we release them back to class.
Tomorrow night is Leopard Friday from 5:00-7:00 pm with kickoff at 7:30 pm. We hope to see our "Lil Harts" out there as Ms. Flemmer and I will be attending the game.
Our fabulous PTO is hosting a Family Science Night this upcoming Monday, November 13th from 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm. The stations will be located in both the cafeteria and gym. We hope to see you this night. On Monday, November 13th, the district is also hosting two parent input meetings for the Hart principal selection. Please refer to the times below.
We are also extending the food drive to include Monday and Tuesday of next week. Please click here
for the flyer and specific items requested.
I hope you have a fabulous evening.

NEW! How to check your child's progress throughout the grading period.
How is my child doing?
As you know, Lovejoy ISD utilizes standards based grading for students in Kindergarten through 4th grade. A Parent FAQ has been created to provide you with information regarding our district’s standards based grading practices.
Beginning in the 2nd quarter, you will be able to use PowerSchool to view your child’s performance indicators for each standard assessed during the grading period. Please know that the performance indicators will not be finalized until the end of the quarter. Students are provided with multiple opportunities to show mastery on standards throughout the grading period. The final performance indicator will appear on your child’s report card.
To log into the PowerSchool Parent Portal, please use the link below. This link will allow you to sign in, create an account, or recover your username and password.
Once you log into the parent portal, click the “Standards Based Grades” tab to monitor your child’s progress on standards taught throughout the grading period.
If you have any questions regarding your child’s progress, please contact his or her teacher.

Visiting Hart Elementary
In a continued effort to support our safety and security posture at the front entrance doors at each campus, all visitors are required to show ID prior to entering our facilities. The front office staff member will continue to ask each visitor what their intended business is at the campus, and visitors will present their ID to the camera intercom system prior to entry. Once the visitor ID is verified, the front office staff member will then allow entry. Note: Visitors should keep their ID in hand, as they will have to use it to sign into Raptor upon entry.
Attendance Update
Attendance continues to be a top priority for Lovejoy ISD. It should come as no surprise that attendance has a direct relationship with student learning. Additionally, public school funding is provided by the State of Texas based on each district's average daily attendance (ADA).
Lovejoy has developed an Attendance Task Force consisting of staff, parents, and students to formulate ideas about how to positively impact ADA in our district. One suggestion is to update the community via weekly principal communication on the number of absences each campus has accrued YTD along with the budgetary impact of those absences. This information can be found below:
3rd Grade Field Trip
Hart Elementary 3rd graders will attend an orchestral performance by the Allen Philharmonic on Wednesday, November 15th at the Allen HS PAC. The cost of the trip is $8.00 and is due Wednesday 11/8. You can pay with cash, check made out to Hart Elementary, or you can click here to pay via Revtrak (online).

A Note from Nurse Tami
Please do not send your child to school if he/she has:
- Flu-like symptoms (fever and/or chills, headache, muscle pain or body aches, feeling tired or weak, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, sneezing, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, vomiting, and diarrhea)
- A fever of 100.0 F degrees or greater
- Vomiting or diarrhea
- An infection that requires antibiotics (i.e. strep throat, pink eye, etc.) unless they have been on antibiotics for a full 24 hours.
If your child is sick and tests positive for anything, please send me an email to let me know. This helps me monitor our campus health. Thank you for helping me keep Hart healthy!
