Locker Updates/ Shout out to the Eaglenation SGA!
- All students have been issued a locker
- Students will not be mandated to use their lockers
- Students will have choice regarding using their lockers
- Students who need to store items will be allowed to use their lockers
- Students will also be eligible to carry backpacks in the hallway to avoid running late to class and carrying large loads in the hallways
The staff was proud to partner with student leaders and to consider all perspectives when making a final decision. We are excited about developing empowered learners in our school!
Get Ready!- Parent/Guardian Meeting for Outdoor Education
6th grade families:
Reminder: The parent/guardian meeting for Outdoor Education will be on December 6th at 6pm in the EMS Cafeteria. The meeting will be recorded and posted online for anyone unable to attend.
By now, your child should have received an Outdoor Education field trip permission slip. This is an amazing experience for the students and we hope all can attend!
- Due Date? by Friday December 9th
- Due Where? Ms. Shannon or Mr. Taliano
- Help with paying? If you need a scholarship to cover the cost, email Ms. Shannon (Kathryn_Shannon@mcpsmd.org) or attach a note asking for a scholarship to the permission slip.
Mental Health MATTERS!
MCPS is hosting its second “Your Story Matters” program, focusing on mental health in communities of color.
- When: Tuesday, December 6, 2022, from 6:00–8:30 p.m.
- Where: Richard Montgomery High School.
- What: Information tables and then the program (including interactive workshops) will begin at 6:30 p.m.
- Who: Parents, caregivers, students, mental health professionals, and community partners are invited to participate in panel discussions and present interactive workshops to discuss mental health issues facing our teens and the stigma of such issues in various communities.

WINTER CLOTHING DRIVE
Thank you to all who have donated to the clothing drive and the PTSA coat drive. We had our first customer on Friday and the student was appreciative in selecting a brand new jacket just time for the walk home. Thank you to the parents who came to organize all of the donations so they are ready to be distributed to those who have the need!
Eaglenation Spiritwear!
The company has corrected the mistake and students and staff will receive two items, one with the incorrect messaging (should say "student") and another with the correct messaging that has the large eagle in the middle. The main office has been distributing to students. If you have not received yours by this Friday, you should call main office to speak with Ms. Vasquez.

MCPS Things to Know for December 1st
Here are six things to know for Thursday, Dec. 1. Get information about a Walking School Bus initiative, an upcoming mental health forum, how to stay involved in the operating budget process, a retirement celebration for longtime Board of Education member Dr. Judith Docca, reminders about inclement weather information, and two football teams making it to this year’s state championship.

Eagle Strut Fun Run: Save the date & seeking volunteers!
We are beginning the planning for the first-ever Eagle Strut Fun Run, to take place on March 3rd during the school day. Please help make this event a success!
