Students will be provided a school packed lunch. They may bring their own lunch. We do ask for these lunches to be in disposable containers.

Parents are encouraged to meet us at Hovatter's Zoo. Please plan to arrive prior to 10:00 a.m.

Upon your arrival, please pay your entrance fee ($12.99) and wait INSIDE the zoo for us to arrive.

We will unload students and bring them into the zoo to meet you.

Students may tour the zoo with their parents. Students without parents will be assigned an adult.

Lunch will be at the pavilion outside the zoo at 12:00 p.m. We ask our students to stay through lunch in order to be counted present for a full day.

After lunch, parents may sign their children out to transport them home, if they wish.

There is a small gift shop on site. We ask if parents take their children to purchase items, to please wait until after you have signed your child out after lunch.

WVGSA State Testing

Our end of year state testing begins for students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades on Thursday, May12.

Please encourage your children to:

* be at school and to be on time!!

* get a good night's rest

* eat breakfast (at home or school)

* put forth their best effort

Attendance on testing days is very important. It is much easier for students to take the test with their classmates rather than alone in a make up session.

Just a reminder, electronic devices (phones, tablets, etc.) are not allowed in the testing rooms. Failure to follow this guideline could result in the device being confiscated and sent to WVDE to be checked for testing breeches.

We will remind your children of this each day before testing begins.

It is our desire to:

- Provide a nurturing, consistent environment which emphasizes the development of the individual child’s social, emotional, physical, and academic growth.

- To teach all children so they may achieve their highest academic potential utilizing authentic learning experiences, to build a foundation to become college and career ready, and to be lifelong learners.

- To guide all children in becoming leaders, problem solvers, and listeners.

- To encourage appropriate relationships through parent and community involvement in the school.

Our Goal:

Hodgesville Elementary School will have an increase of at least 1.0 GE growth for 40% of our students as based on beginning of the year to end of the year data for 2021 – 2022 end of year assessments for Math and English Language Arts.
