From the Principal

Dear Families,

Welcome back and hoping your week has been a really great one.

Some Special Visitors

The Kindy team were celebrating a 'P' day today (hence the pyjamas) and Mrs Bolding brought in eight brand new little Kaboodle puppies for the children to meet! Of course all the staff were found 'ooohing and aaahing' in the Kindy room before school. There's nothing quite like a little puppy to warm your heart and brighten your day! Suffice to say, the children were so in awe!

Office Display

Thank you to our Kindy team for the great display in our office - which is all about learning our A, B, C's!

Office Christmas Tree

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas! A small group of Year Sixes wrangled our Christmas tree into submission this afternoon - now decorated and the gift stars are ready for any families who would like to provide a gift for a child in need. Pop in and grab a tag!

A few messages to please read below when you have a few minutes!

Take care everyone and have a wonderful weekend.

Kindest regards

Tania Thuijs

Principal

Remembrance Day

Staff and students gathered on Thursday to acknowledge and pay our respects to all those men and women who lost their lives as a result of war. We prayed for peace and we reflected on how learning to be a peace-maker takes courage, wisdom and integrity.

May we, as significant adults in our children's lives, continue to be good role models in our own families, staying calm under pressure, and living out the Gospel values in the everyday choices we make.

Two Way Meetings - a great opportunity!

By now you will have hopefully booked your meeting on Monday - a phone call or face to face. A gentle reminder that like all of you, our hard working staff are also feeling a little tired as they juggle many competing demands. In addition to their classroom program and all the teaching and learning opportunities they facilitate each day, they also have report writing going on, Two-Way meetings to prepare for, concert preparation and more.

As you meet with your teacher, please remember that they are to be treated with the same respect that they will afford you. A thank you, acknowledging their hard work and dedication in supporting your child throughout the year would be a thoughtful and greatly appreciated gesture!

Code of Conduct Reminder

I would like to remind all parents that our Code of Conduct establishes minimum standards of conduct to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all members within our school community.

There is a high expectation therefore, that all members - children, parents and staff are respectful at all times - in all communications and in all situations.

Thank you for your ongoing vigilance and cooperation, as it continues to make our school a special, safe and happy place to belong to.

2. This meeting can be held face to face, onsite here at school, or as a phone conversation.

3. If you are planning to come onsite, please ensure that your children understand that they are to read, colour in or sit patiently just outside the classroom while they wait for you to have your meeting. It is important that these meetings can be conducted without noise and distractions.

4. As always, we ask that parents are very respectful of agreed times.

Thank you, and looking forward to seeing you.

A Whole School Community Effort for those in need ...

Dear St Emilie's Families,

Please read the letter below that invites you to make a small donation towards our annual support of St Vincent de Paul, who do such wonderful work in the community.

Next week each class will be collecting items that will go towards creating 35 large Christmas hampers for local families doing it very tough at the moment.

We will also be setting up our Christmas Tree in the Office with our Wish Upon a Star tags in mid November. This allows any families who would like to buy a small gift for children of these families, to do so.

Many thanks for your generous support - it is very much appreciated by the families themselves and by all the volunteers who deliver them.

03 Nov to 24 Nov ESSENTIAL PREPARATION FOR ADVENT: THE MEANING OF CHRISTIAN HOPE (ONLINE)

Wednesdays, 7.30pm to 8.30pm, (4 sessions) Online. In preparation for Advent, this course will explore the meaning and content of Christian hope, and the centrality of Christ’s Incarnation to Christian hope. Social Worker PARENT REFERRAL and CONSENT FORM

School social workers focus on the student in the school environment and work collaboratively with principals and teachers to minimise the impacts of personal, family and school difficulties and, where possible, remove any barriers to learning.

With students as their focus, school social workers provide consultancy, advice and support to principals, teachers and other school staff and to families, so that they can best meet the needs of individual and groups of children and young people. There is a strong emphasis on individual student and family counselling and support.

This service is an amazing opportunity for kids, staff and families and one we have wanted in our school for some time.

Please find below the Parent Referral and Consent Form to access our School Social Worker.

You are asked to read the procedure carefully and also note that Kylie only works two days a week. While she will do her very best to accomodate all family referrals, patience may be required as she prioritises her case load and allows time for observation visits, classroom support and playground involvement.
