HPES Weekly Newsletter
11/11/19
This Veterans Day, I encourage you to set aside a few minutes to remember and honor those who have served our country in the Armed Forces. Let's take a moment to thank our staff members, friends, and family members who have served out country. This Veterans Day, help our students learn about, understand, and show appreciation for the sacrifices our brave veterans have made.
You may wear jeans with a red/white/blue shirt, or any military shirt!
Veterans Day Concert
- Watson & 2nd grade – please have students seated in the cafeteria no later than 1:20. As they are the youngest and smallest audience members, they will be seated in the front, closest to the kitchen. The coaches and Ms. Davis will direct you to your seats.
- 3rd grade – since the concert will commence during your specials time, please bring your students to specials at regular time. Please keep them in your class lines and the specials team will get them seated and squared away in the cafeteria. They will be seated in the front, closest to the foyer. This will help when you return at 1:55. At that time we will need you to meet us in the cafeteria and take over monitoring your students, as the specials team will need to transfer focus to monitoring the 5th graders.
- 4th grade – please bring students to the gym at normal specials time and we will hold them till the end of the concert. This will allow for plenty of time to catch up on Boosterthon huddles, restroom breaks, etc. We will move to the music room at 1:00 to begin warm ups and review. Please join us in the music room at 1:05 to help with monitoring, as the coaches and Ms. Davis will need to be with the 3rd grade. We will release the students to you at the end of the concert.
- 5th grade – please have students seated in the cafeteria no later than 1:20. As they are the oldest and largest audience members, they will be seated in the back, split to each side, closest to the tables. The coaches and Ms. Davis will direct you to your seats. The concert will commence promptly at 1:30. We will need your assistance monitoring your students during the performance. At 1:55 you are welcome to take your conference and the specials team will take over the 5th grade classes for concert monitoring and dismissal till 2:45.
Please remember to remind your students of appropriate audience behavior and expectations. Also, please make sure to have close proximity to your class, handling any behavior issues that could be disrespectful or distract the performers or other members of the audience.

2. Communicate with your classroom parents!
- Use the email templates found on your Teacher Dashboard to update your classroom parents with your class’ progress. Be sure to add your own personalization and a class update to these emails! There will also be volunteer opportunities for parents on the day of the Fun Run.
3. Promote pledging, daily!
- Celebrate students and your class for getting pledges and motivate them to the next level on your Pledge-O-Meter.
