Parkhill Primary School Newsletter
Issue 6, Thursday 5 March
Dear Parents/Carers
Happy Thursday!
Last year we launched our Parkhill Community Essential Agreement. This documentation can be found on our website and outlines our common agreements about how we would like everyone in our community to connect. Part of this documentation was to communicate levels of behaviours at Parkhill and how these behaviours will be managed. We categorised them by red, yellow and green - which correlates with our catastrophe scale work we do with the children, which in turn connects with the playground reporting system.
The following table outlines examples of behaviours, typical responses and actions which may be taken. It also outlines who will take responsibility for the management of such behaviours/incidents and or situations. At Parkhill we categorise into Low, Moderate and High impact behaviors. The impact of such behaviours is on the safety, wellbeing and learning needs of all students in our community.
UNIFORM:
Now that the weather is turning colder and winter is coming, I have noticed more and more students wearing variations to our uniform, including hoodies and jumpers that are not from the Parkhill uniform shop. I wanted to share with you what the uniform expectations are - don’t forget you can order online!
PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS
In Week 7 we will hold Parent Teacher Interviews. This is an opportunity for you to have open discussion with the teacher about your child’s learning progress. Please see below for the link to book online.
It is important to remember that you are always welcome to meet with your class teacher and I encourage you to make appointments throughout the year to touch base and talk about your child’s learning progress.
HELPING OUT:
There are many opportunities to help in and around the school. We have some working groups and committees that help us as a school to operate and your voice is massively valued and important to us. This year we will have:
Policy Committee (meeting monthly)
Finance Committee (meeting monthly)
Marketing Group (meeting monthly as needed)
Uniform Group (meeting monthly as needed)
If you would like any information about these groups or committees and are interested in being part of them, then please email me or call the office brady.elaine.e@edumail.vic.gov.au
REMINDERS:
2020 school fees (Essential Education Items) are due – if you have not yet paid this fee please contact the office ASAP. It is important to note that the school has to subsidise any fees that are not paid by families. These subsidies are paid out of our curriculum budgets.
Morning drop off: Supervision on the playground is only from 8:45am. So many children have been arriving at 8am. These children should attend OshClub. They are not allowed to be unsupervised and left on the playground. Please do seek other alternatives.
Parent Teacher interviews will be held on 10th/11th March - check out the link below to book your appointment.
School photographs are on 12th March -you should have received your envelopes.
On Tuesday 17th March we look forward to our Twilight Sports event.
Have a wonderful weekend

From the PFA President
Dear Parkhill Families,
At the upcoming parents and friends association (PFA) AGM on the 11th of March, I have decided that it is time I step aside. Due to increasing other commitments I will no longer be able to represent the school PFA as president. I have loved every moment of this role within the PFA team, helping to raise money and build community connections through events and ongoing PFA activities, and I will still continue to be an active member of the PFA general committee. However, I feel after 4 years in the role it is time to welcome someone new. It is an exciting time in fact as all committee roles of treasurer, secretary and communications are up for re-election. We welcome interest from all members of the school community to evolve and continue the PFA activities moving forwards.
Being part of the PFA provides a unique opportunity to add enormous value to the school, students and community through providing fundraising for much needed amenities and also social activities that bring together families and students that help foster the wonderful Parkhill community.
As of writing this letter, there are currently no expressions of interest, so if you would like to find out more about the role of President please reach out with any questions. Rest assured that all current committee members Sumi, Nadine, Eva and myself will remain active members of the PFA and be able to closely support new committee members in their roles. Please see below for more information on each role.
Thank you everyone for your support of the PFA over the years.
Kind Regards
Vanessa Cowley
