Principal's Message
Dear Ride Families,
This week is the beginning of the last 9 weeks of the 2021-22 school year. It has been a truly incredible school year. We always move into the last 9 weeks with new energy and excitement for the progress made the last eight months. We have also learned over the years that this is a great time to review our structures and classroom procedures, focus on the academic growth, evaluate what goals need to be met, celebrate our successes to finish strong!
Tuesday is our Spring Picture Day. We will have individual pictures and class pictures. Individual pictures will be done on a proof basis. That means you will get to see the picture and decide if you would like to order it.
Class pictures will need to be pre-ordered; you can preorder by accessing the link below or use the order form sent home with your child.
Please see the flyer below for ordering instructions.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Megan Burnham

It’s Book Fair Time
We will host a Book Fair on April 7th – 13th in the school library. During the week, the Book Fair is open from 7:30 – 3:00. The Book Fair will be open on the evening of April 7th for bike rodeo and also the evening of April 12th for the 4th grade program. Our last day will be Wednesday, April 13th.
We have a great digital payment option that is highly encouraged for students to use. Parents can set up an eWallet for students, deposit money into it, and students will not have to bring money to school. Visit our Book Fair homepage at
https://www.scholastic.com/bf/sallykrideelementaryschool1
to open up an eWallet account for your child. Any left over money in the eWallet will be put on a gift card for your student to use at future fairs or online. If you have money left over from the last book fair, you can sign in to your ewallet and transfer the money to this book fair. Students can also bring cash or check during the week to purchase books!
Profits from the Book Fair will be used to purchase books for our school library!

Reservation for Lunch at Sally K. Ride
We have a Sign-Up Genius to reserve a spot to have lunch with your child. In order to give all parents an opportunity to sign up, each adult may only sign up once every three weeks.
There is no visitor seating available in the cafe. Therefore, you may eat in a couple of different areas; Art room, conference room or outside tables (by gazebo or Trike Track). Certain areas will be designated for specific grades. (see locations below)
We will allowing a limited number of visitors per lunch period. Please make every effort to eat outside at picnic tables (weather permitting), otherwise you will see your location to eat in the Sign-Up Genius.

Attendance Matters - Attendance in school is critical to a child's academic success
Dear Families,
Despite bad weather and illness, Covid and quarantine, our teachers, families and students have persisted to keep learning happening. We appreciate everyone’s hard work and commitment to our school community. Thank you, thank you!
● When school resumes on March 21st, we will be encouraging all students to be present each and every day.
● As long as your child is healthy, please be sure to send your child school and refrain from picking him/her up early. Every day of school is an important opportunity for students to learn as well as connect to peers and their teachers.
● Attendance matters because missing 10% of school days (just two days per month) can drastically impact a child’s education. (For example: Kindergartners and 1st graders who miss 10%+ school days are much less likely to learn to read by the end of 3rd grade.)
● As we enter the final 9 week grading period, we will resume attendance emails and phone calls for students with excessive absences.
Thank you for your continued support!
