Mid-Summer Update!

Hello Families,

We hope you're having a fantastic summer so far! The 2023-24 school year is only a month away, so this is a great opportunity to provide you with a quick update as our summer school programs come to an end. Activity picks up in August as principals and secretaries return to work and sports registration gets underway. You can expect your child's school to send out more information as we get closer to the school year, so be on the lookout for more updates!

School Board Names Former District Leader Dr. Duane Yecha as Finalist for Interim Superintendent Post

The Crook County School Board has unanimously agreed to consider former Crook County School District superintendent Dr. Duane Yecha of Prineville as a finalist for interim superintendent. Dr. Duane Yecha retired in 2018 after serving as the head of Crook County Schools for seven years but remained in the community. He was asked to consider serving in the interim position to help bring stability and unity to the school district. The board plans to make his appointment official on at the August 16th school board meeting.

The community survey remains open, so families can still submit comments and feedback:

There will be a community meet-and-greet with Dr. Yecha on Thursday, August 3rd, 5pm at the District Office located at 471 NE Ochoco Plaza Drive.

School & Sports Registration

August is the official kick-off month for registration activities. Families with students attending CCMS and CCHS can expect more information about student and sports registration. Here are the dates to keep in mind:

Registration Opens for NEW & RETURNING Families

Tuesday, August 1st

Fall Sports Registration Opens for CCHS
Practices begin August 14th

School Board meetings are broadcast live every month on Zoom. The link to board meetings can be found at the top of the agenda for each month. You can also watch meetings on the district's YouTube Channel, and they will be permanently saved there for staff, families, and community members to watch at any time.
