G-Suite Gives Platform for Class Website
CCS is a G-Suite (formerly Google Apps for Education) system. This gives us access to many resources to enhance the educational environment and the learning experience. Mrs. Rains' Food Innovation class recently received assistance from Mrs. Sharon Drake in setting up a Google Site (website) for the food styling and food photography portion of their class. This online resource is editable by Mrs. Rains and all members of the class. They can add their food photography, view others' work and critique any postings. Below, Mrs. Drake introduces one option for the Food Innovations website.
CHS Hosts School Board
We were pleased to have the CCS Board on campus Tuesday to tour our campus. Their schedule included visits to all areas and departments of CHS. They were also treated to a wonderful meal from Mrs. Rains and the FACS department.
CHS Swim Team Celebrates Season at Banquet
CHS Swim Team had a lot to celebrate at the end-of-season banquet this year. The swim season was full of record breaking performances by our student athletes. We are proud of their success and delighted to celebrate with them.
CMS to Participate in National Assessment of Educational Progress
Cullman Middle School will participate in the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) on February 21, 2017. NAEP is the largest nationally representative and continuing assessment of what students know and can do in various subjects. It is administered by the National Center for Education Statistics, within the U.S. Department of Education. NAEP is different from our state assessment because it provides a common measure of student achievement across the country.
East Prints 3D!
The EES media center now has a 3D printer. Mrs. Wood has a new MakerBot 3D printer up and running with the help of the CCS Tech Department. Students are excited to choose design files, send them to the printer and watch as the MakerBot creates the designs. They have created a length of chain, a Lego Man, a Bearcat paw keychain medallion, a landforms model and there is perhaps a Shrek and a President Donald Trump on campus somewhere!

Technology Integration
CCS and EES are blessed to have an abundance of technology resources. Our job is to make sure those resources are fully integrated into the instructional program so that maximum results are obtained by our students. At EES our teachers have become extremely proficient in the use of technology to enhance teaching and learning.
The SAMR Model is a great guide for the use of technology in schools. SAMR is a model designed to help educators infuse technology into teaching and learning. Popularized by Dr. Ruben Puentedura, the model supports and enables teachers to design, develop, and infuse digital learning experiences that utilize technology. The goal is to transform learning experiences so they result in higher levels of achievement for students. We see this happening every day at EES.
Creating Travel Guides Brings Real World Experience
Mrs. Gunter's students in the 6th grade gifted class have been working on travel guides. Our students could help you plan a trip to Argentina, California or the Roller Coaster Capital of the World, Cedar Point, Ohio or places beyond! Vacation anyone?
Engineering and Design in Grade 2
Mrs. Crystal Long's class worked to design, engineer and test zip line carriers. They had some great ideas!
CCPS Students Watch History in the Making
Watching the peaceful transition of power and an incredible moment in history, CCPS students experience the inauguration of the 45th President of the United States. Never too young to participate!
100 Days Finds New Focus
Primary grade teachers know at least one hundred ways to celebrate the 100th Day of School! At CCPS we are bringing a new focus to the tradition. We are collecting canned food items that will be donated to Cullman Caring for Kids. Classes are gathering their cans and numbering them to keep count of our classroom totals. One hundred canned food items from each of our classes at CCPS will go a long way to support our great local charity!
