Common Assessments - Benchmarks
Common Assessments are here already!! This is a major benchmark for our campus. Sometimes, CAs are seen as burdensome obstacles that just 'take away from instruction' or 'just another district mandate' ... but we need to see them differently.
If you are traveling across the state (or nation) and it takes 9 months to get there ... would you just look at your compass once as you left and never check again until 9 months later?? Or, would you check you compass, depart on your journey, and every few weeks (or more frequently) check your compass again to make sure your path is correct to reach your destination. The District Common Assessment is an objective guidepost that helps ensure we are headed in the right direction; it provides us data so we can adjust our course, or gives us evidence we are headed in the right direction so we can even speed up!!
Or compass check will give valuable data. Lets ensure the Testing Environment is good so our data is valid and the most reliable!
Onward!
21 Week in Review
We had a GREAT 100 Day of School Parade!! How exciting it was to see our young scholars show their excitement for learning!
Learning Walks were conducted during PLCs; teachers took fantastic opportunities to see high quality instruction and student engagement in action. Teachers discussed things they could immediately incorporate and implement in their classrooms.
3rd Grade and 5th Grade were able to take Field Trips to the Music Hall to continue their learning outside of the campus.

Teacher Shout Outs!!
So much greatness was seen last week, Again!! Learning walks are a great way to highlight everything being done in our classrooms!! Great Job CHAVEZ TEACHER & STAFF!!
Echegaray using student proximity and change of sitting location to have them engaged.
Milne utilizing students partners so all students can respond to the learning.
Aiken, students implemented Reader's Theatre ... AND students created how to act out the passage. It was a fictional text and not a 'play' ... students chose how to read the script.
