BOND STEERING COMMITTEE UPDATE
The Bond Steering Committee met for their 6th meeting on October 22nd. During this meeting the committee members reviewed the feedback from the two community engagement sessions. The committee then worked in teams and each team "built" the model that best represented their "must haves" of the new consolidated building plan.

SPOTLIGHT ON....................... Palms Elementary
Palms Elementary is off to a great start with lots of activities going on. We hope you enjoy reading about a few of the activities that have happened so far this school year.
Ira Twp Fire Fighters Visit Palms
Palms was visited by the Ira Township Fire Department. Second and third grade students explored the workings of a fire truck. They were also able to see what a fireman looks like and sounds like in full fire gear.
THINK ENERGY
The 4th & 5th graders at Palms Elementary participated in the THINK ENERGY presentation sponsored by DTE & SEMCO Energy. The kids learned to how to conserve energy through hands on and visual experiences. They each received an at home energy conservation kit filled with devices to install in their homes.
Boo Bash
Palms held their annual Boo Bash Thursday night. Games, activities, and food were fun for everyone.

The annual battle for the bell football game of Marine City vs. St. Clair was played on October 5th. It was a great game and congratulations to the St. Clair Saints for the win. Everyone had a great time...... MC and SC cheerleaders, the Marine City band dancing to the St. Clair band at half time. It was a fun night!

MCMS Participates in Regional Honors Choir
Marine City Middle School had 8 students submit auditions for the MSVMA Honors Choir program. On Saturday, October 20th, all 8 students participated in the Regional Honors Choir and performed at South Lyon East High School. MC Choir is under the direction of Mr. Bert VanDyke.
Congratulations to Courtney Witherow, Emma Griffor, Tara VanBuskirk, Grace Marrs, Avery Krantz, Molly Beaker, Ryan Sicken, and Skyler Provost!
Tim Lelito Visits SCMS
Tim Lelito spoke to SCMS students about the importance of communication, being open-minded with those that are different, confrontation bias, choosing a different perspective, and how life is 90% of how you react to things. He connected situations that he went through to The Positivity Project and gave examples of P2 Character Strengths of Teamwork, Open-Mindedness, Integrity and Identifying & Appreciating the Good in Others.Thank you, Tim Lelito!
Our Little Explorers Have Been Busy
Our Little Explorers are off to a great start. The Little Explorers preschool class had a visit from Chief Joe, visited Blake's Apple Orchard and have been busy in their classroom.
Apple Crunch Day
St. Clair Middle School and students in the GSRP classroom crunched into Michigan apples for Michigan's Apple Crunch Day! This apple opportunity was brought to us by Chartwells Food Service. Thank you!
ECEF Fall Grant Awards
The East China Educational Foundation presented the fall 2018 awards at the October 22nd Board of Education meeting. Congratulations to the 19 recipients!
