Week at Windsor 3.8.20

Looking back and ahead at Windsor news and happenings...

Dear Windsor Families,

Hopefully, this message finds you with your clocks set for the start of Daylight Savings. Fortunately, it has started with this wonderful weekend warm up. Our wish is that you have been able to enjoy it!

This week marks the start of the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) for students in grades 3-5. (More information is included below in this weekend's updates.)

Our Windsor PTA is having a MOD Pizza fundraiser all day on Wednesday, March 11th! This is a great way to feed the family and support this fundraiser all at the same time!

On Friday the 13th, we are looking forward to an all school assembly performance featuring members of Windsor's Drama Club.

We have two more weeks of learning and fun here at school before our Spring Break begins on Monday, March 23rd. Thank you for entrusting us with your children each and every day!

Warmest regards,

Piper Boston, Principal @PrincipalBoston

Lindsay Anastacio, Assistant Principal @lindzana

Windsor Gives Back

We have such a caring school community. Just some of the ways Windsor has given back this year include:

  • Wildcat Council Holiday Book Drive,
  • Windsor PTA Food and Winter Coat Drive,
  • Windsor PTA Green Team Plastic Bag and Recycling Program,
  • ESCO's Soccer Equipment Drive (Still going-see below!),
  • and, new this year, our Wildcat Council's February Kid's Heart Challenge for the American Heart Association raising almost $7,000!

For the past two years, Windsor has hosted a St. Baldrick's after school fundraiser to support childhood cancer research. It has been a wonderful and well received event for those in attendance, and some families have recently been inquiring about it. We explored sponsoring an event for our community once again; however, for different reasons, we are unable to host this year. As a staff and school, we will continue working with our students on causes that are close to the community and model and reinforce the importance of giving back to others.

We are collecting new and used soccer equipment for kids participating in ESCO's community outreach soccer programs. The youth in these programs do not have the means to play organized soccer let alone afford the necessary equipment.

ITEMS NEEDED: Soccer equipment for kids in grades 2-5 (soccer cleats, shin guards, and size 4 soccer balls). ESCO is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Arlington Heights. For more information about ESCO visit www.elitesoccercommunity.org or follow on Facebook and Instagram @SupportESCO.

Mr. Gember jgember@sd25.org is helping to organize this effort and can answer any questions!

Extraordinary Staff Recognition

We are proud of the Windsor team, as they are all committed and dedicated to their work here at school. During Valentine's Day week, the PTA helped to organize positive messages and notes for our different teachers. While unexpected, they always appreciate positive feedback from you and our students.

If there is a staff member you feel deserves some extraordinary recognition for something he or she has done for our school to make a difference for others, please fill out this form to have this staff member more formally recognized for her or his extraordinary accomplishment.

Previously Sent Windsor/D25 Health Communications

Last week, several communications were emailed home, which is more than usual. Below we are including some of these communications for your reference only as needed.

One recommendation we want to reiterate is the importance of leaving detailed symptoms on either our online absence notification or hotline 847-398-4297. As always, please feel free to contact Ms. Boston with any questions or concerns.
