Quiet at the tee box ... runners take your mark ... batter up ... LET'S GOOOOOOOOOO!!
I encourage all of you to get out and cheer on the Brickies this spring as they strive to be their best!
Break may be over, but BricksCenter is just beginning!

Track & Field
Up first was Weber in the 60m hurdles. In a field filled with upperclassmen (15 seniors), Cailey was just 1 of 3 sophomores who qualified to compete. She finished 23rd overall against the best in Indiana and the experience competing on this stage will serve her well in the future! Coach Sutton's advice? "Soak it all in this year ... next time we'll be here with a purpose." I LOVE IT!!! The journey is soooooooo important!!
For Johnston, who spent the last two weekends earning ALL-AMERICAN honors while competing in New York City (New Balance Indoor Nationals - 6th place) and Virginia Beach (Adidas Indoor Nationals - 4th place), flying high and finishing on the podium are becoming the norm! On Saturday, he SOARED to a height of 16'7" to claim 1ST PLACE and earn the title of Hoosier State Relays CHAMPION!!! 16'7" was also a new personal best and a NEW MEET RECORD!! The previous HSR record for pole vault was set back in 2008 at 16'6.75". UNBELIEVABLE!! Cody is only 2" away from the Hobart school record for pole vault (16'9") and the 1st Brickie to win an individual HSR title since high jumper Kristy Knox back in 2005! INCREDIBLE!!
Now that the indoor part of the spring season is officially over, the focus shifts outside and for both Weber & Johnston, the goal will be the finish that part of the season in Bloomington as well :)

Check out Cody's 16'7" vault!!
Softball/Baseball
Well ... the Brickies were hoping to SHINE BRIGHT on the Diamond this past week in their season-opening scrimmages, but unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans. Rainy conditions throughout the week combined with below freezing temps and SNOW caused cancellations.
Weather permitting, both softball and baseball will begin their spring seasons this week! Here are a few things to keep in mind when you take someone out to the ballgame:
1. If you build it, he will come. - Field of Dreams
2. There's no crying in baseball (or softball). - A League of Their Own
3. Heroes get remembered, but legends never die. - The Sandlot

Wrestling
In total, 40 total schools in 4 different classes will try to pin down a team state duals championship next January!
CONGRATULATIONS to Coach Cook, his stellar staff and all of our wrestlers navigating the #BRICKRODE for this OUTSTANDING opportunity!
