Howdy Bronco Family! Wow, we are pushing into the 4th Quarter of the school year. It seems as though time has flown by, and it’s crazy to think the end of the year is closer than we can imagine. While the time may seem short, I can assure you there is still so much more for our students to learn and accomplish. Each day, hour, minute, second your child is here is so important. That’s why being on time and attendance matters so much! Attendance is not just for academic success. It allows students to learn the social skills needed and to learn the importance of routines and structure. All of these are vital to help our students grow into productive citizens. Plus, I love seeing their smiling, eager faces each day. So, let’s get our kids here every day ready to learn!

Remember, you can always find the latest Meadow ISD news on the MISD website and Facebook page, so go check them out! Also, check your kiddo’s backpack and folders for any important paper notes that may have gone home.

Don’t forget to contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions about what is going on in the classroom. We are always here to help.

¡Hola Familia Bronco! Guau, estamos avanzando hacia el cuarto trimestre del año escolar. Parece que el tiempo ha pasado volando y es una locura pensar que el fin de año está más cerca de lo que imaginamos. Si bien el tiempo puede parecer corto, les puedo asegurar que todavía hay mucho más para que nuestros estudiantes aprendan y logren. Cada día, hora, minuto, segundo que su hijo está aquí es muy importante. ¡Es por eso que llegar a tiempo y asistir es tan importante! La asistencia no es solo para el éxito académico. Permite a los estudiantes aprender las habilidades sociales necesarias y aprender la importancia de las rutinas y la estructura. Todos estos son vitales para ayudar a nuestros estudiantes a convertirse en ciudadanos productivos. Además, me encanta ver sus caras sonrientes y ansiosas todos los días. Hello parents,

We’ve been super busy in Kindergarten.

-Phonics- Focusing on digraphs sh, generating rhyming words, blending onsets and rimes.

-Math - identifying two dimensional shapes, and sorting shapes.

Reading- identifying genre of a book, and type, and point of view. Telling why it is nonfiction or fiction. Answering comprehension questions by thinking, pairing and sharing.

AR – read the AR library books to your child for at least 20 minutes so they can take an AR test. The end of the third quarter is almost over. Let’s keep working to meet our goal.

Please call the office, or message me on Class Dojo, if your child is sick.

· In math we are learning how to find the perimeter of shapes by adding all the sides together. We are also learning how to find the missing side of a shape by adding all the sides and subtracting from the given perimeter.

· In science we are learning about the sun and why it is important to the Earth.

· Please make sure your child is practicing their math facts every night. Math fact tests are on Thursdays

· Math fact homework is due on Thursdays.

Hello 3rd grade readers,

This week we continued working on STAAR review. We reviewed some examples of realistic fiction texts and looked at different elements that make up realistic texts. While looking at these different examples of realistic fiction texts, we also reviewed a variety of STAAR question examples. These examples consisted of open-ended questions and multiple-choice questions. Students have been showing great progress when it comes to answering open-ended questions.

In phonics, we worked on v/v syllable division patterns and used background knowledge to code to understand how to read and spell words that have this pattern. Remember spelling tests are every Thursday.

In grammar, we reviewed identifying the subject within a sentence, the suffix -ly and its meaning and correcting sentences.

In social studies, we took a break from our unit to celebrate Dr. Suess's birthday. We read a biography about him and read one of my favorite books, The Lorax.

• Spelling tests and vocabulary tests are every Thursday
• If your child will not be here, please contact the office and message on Class Dojo

Revisamos algunos ejemplos de textos de ficción realistas y observamos diferentes elementos que componen textos realistas. Mientras observamos estos diferentes ejemplos de textos de ficción realistas, también revisamos una variedad de ejemplos de preguntas de STAAR. Estos ejemplos consistían en preguntas abiertas y preguntas de opción múltiple. Los estudiantes han mostrado un gran progreso cuando se trata de responder preguntas abiertas. Some 3rd grade student's cashed in on their DOJO points and the were able to spin the reward wheel and had lunch with their teacher, Miss. Reinhart!

Reminders...

1. Spelling List 24 went home yesterday. Our test will be next Wednesday.
2. Students need to be reading at least 20 minutes every night. We STILL have students who have yet to take an AR test since December. Thank you to those of who understand the importance of reading and try to get that done every day. It makes a difference in your child's education.
3. We are nearing the end of the 9 weeks. Students need to be on their A-Game as we end the grading period.
4. Please let me know if you are running late or if your student will be absent. It is nice to hear from you and know what to expect 🙂
5. Spring break is March 13-17th.
6. The STAAR test will be on April 18th. Please keep that date in mind as we get closer.

Ortografía Lista 24 se fue a casa hoy. Nuestra prueba será el próximo miércoles.

Los estudiantes necesitan estar leyendo por lo menos 20 minutos cada noche. TODAVÍA tenemos estudiantes que aún tienen que tomar un examen AR desde diciembre. Gracias a aquellos que entienden la importancia de la lectura y tratan de hacerlo todos los días. Hace una diferencia en la educación de su hijo.

4th & 5th Grade MATH

-In 4th Grade, we are still working on lines, rays and angles and moved on to symmetry. There are still a few math chapters I would like to go over before we start to review for the STAAR.

-In 5th grade, we just started working on data analysis. We have started working on different kinds of graphs how to read them and create them. This will be our last math chapter before we start to review for the STAAR.

-Please have your student practice multiplication math facts every night for 5 to 10 minutes. It will make a world of a difference.

-Thank you for bringing your child to school every day. We learn something new every day and when they are absent it makes it even harder to make up the work and to understand the next assignment.

5th Grade Rad Readers & Social Studies Scholars:

In Reading, we have been closing up our unit over argumentative texts. I think the students really have a good understanding of the structure and elements of argumentative texts. After this week, we are diving into our review of all the genres in preparation for the STAAR test.

In Social Studies, we have been learning about The United States Constitution and the parts of our US Government. We had a great discussion this week about what makes up our government and the different types of government we see in the United States. Next week, we will be moving onto Westward Expansion and The War of 1812.

Reminders:

• Spelling words & packet will go home today! The spelling test is next Wednesday!
• Every student now has a reading log they must complete each week! They are due back to me every Wednesday.
• The end of the 9 weeks is coming up quickly. If you're concerned about how your child is doing in either of my classes, please let me know.
