Bluefish Bits

This is our last Bluefish Bits message for the school year 2021-2022! Although we transitioned back to in person learning, this year was an adjustment for both staff and students. Each year, I am amazed at the resiliency of our students, and I am so grateful for you as our parent community. Thank you for your patience, support, and commitment to our school community.

This is also my last Bluefish Bits message as the principal of Lynnhaven MS and An Achievable Dream Academy High School . The last four years has been an absolute joy to serve our students and you, our parent community. Thank you for sending your most treasured possession each day and trusting me, and our staff, to keep them safe. Although I am leaving Lynnhaven, I will always be a resource to your students and one of their biggest cheerleaders. Again, I am forever grateful for my time here at Lynnhaven and for your support over the last four years. I wish you all well and a safe and relaxing summer.

The last day of school for students is Friday, June 17th. It is an adjusted dismissal day, and the schedule is posted below.

The school supply list for the 2022-2023 school year is available. Please check your student's grade level for their specific supplies.

When you take your child in for a Well Child Visit, they will most likely be getting the Tdap Vaccination. The Tdap is a state required vaccine for entry into the 7th grade. Immunization records must be provided to the school. You can provide this information to the clinic by email or by dropping it off at the school. If your child has already received the Tdap vaccination, please provide updated immunization records as soon as possible.

Boys & Girls Soccer Tryouts: Monday, August 29, 2022

Students need a physical on file that is dated AFTER 5-1-22 in order to tryout for fall sports.

The 2022 Middle School summer programing will offer opportunities for:

• Repeat courses for students who did not successfully complete a course during the regular school year (Repeat Face to Face Courses)
• Preparation opportunities for select math or science courses to develop skills for the upcoming school year (Boosts)
• English as a Second Language courses for students who are identified limited in English (English as a Second language)
• SOL Fast Track Tutoring to retake an SOL course to meet the Standards of Learning (SOL) verified credit diploma criteria.

Repeat face-to-face course electronic registration and payment begins on May 24, 2022 at 12:00 p.m./ noon through the Web Store. Registration closes on June 21, 2022 at 12:00 p.m./ noon.

Questions regarding Secondary Summer School should be directed to summerschool@vbschools.com.

Students will take their Chromebooks home for the summer. Students are expected to return with their Chromebooks in September for the new school year. If you are leaving the division, please contact your school and return your student's Chromebook.
