Principal Allen's Weekly Newsletter
August 26, 2019
Dear Spicewood Elementary Parents & Community Members,
Welcome to another week of learning! Although we've only been in school seven days, our students have begun to fall into a routine! Classrooms are running smoothly as teachers continue to foster a positive community of learners. This year we asked every teacher to begin the day with a class meeting which gives every student an opportunity to share their thoughts and feelings.I have loved seeing students build a positive rapport with their classmates before beginning the day. We are off to a great start!
I would like to give a shout out to the WatchDOG Dads who dedicate their time each morning to help with morning arrival - Thank you!
Have a wonderful week!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Allen,
Principal
Campus Announcements
Peach Jar Flyers: We have made some changes! In the past, we have always shared flyers for after school clubs, enrichment activities and campus events through a digital folder. This year you will receive an email from Peach Jar Flyers instead. Please be sure to subscribe if you haven't already. For your convenience, we have also linked Peach Jar flyers to our Spicewood Elementary website.
Morning Arrival & Safety: I respectfully ask that drivers of golf carts follow the same rules as cars. This includes parking. We also have a designated cross walk on Tin Cup. Please use the cross walk rather than crossing in the middle of the street.
IB PYP with Mrs. Oates
(This portion of Mrs. Allen’s newsletter is contributed by Mrs. Oates, our PYP Coordinator.)
Please join us for an evening with our IB Coordinator to learn more about the IB program at Spicewood Elementary. You’ll learn more about the inquiry based classroom and how you can take an active role in supporting your child as an IB learner.

Join the PTA!
By joining the PTA, you help us meet our school's needs that are outside the scope of their budget and help us support our many PTA-sponsored programs and events. An annual PTA membership costs $10 and simply shows that you support parents and teachers working together to build a vibrant, engaged school community where our children thrive. #PTAPROUD
You don’t need to volunteer or come to meetings (although we love it when you do!)...joining the Spicewood PTA just shows you care. https://spicewoodpta.membershiptoolkit.com/membership
