CKE Monday Notes
"If It's to Be, It's Up to Me"
Welcome Back Coker Family!
Good afternoon folks! We hope that everyone had an awesome Christmas break. As we embark on a new year and the second half of the school year, I want to encourage you to keep up the good work. We are seeing some GRRREAT things going on at Coker and we know that we will continue to make gains and help our students shine! Please remember that our focus should always be our students and their academic welfare. In order to help them grow in the classroom we want to encourage you and challenge you to try new things. As we work daily to prepare our students for the new state assessment and the next grade level, we must remember that by always doing the same thing that we've always done will not get us where we need to be. And the effects on student growth and your efforts in the classroom could lag behind at the end of the school year. I have said it before and I will say it again, we have the best faculty and staff in the county so I have no doubt that our Cubs will outshine all other students in the district! And I don't know about you but I want parents to desire for their child to attend Coker Elementary School. Remember, as always, Coker Cubs are GRRREAT!
Common Planning
Beginning this week our common planning schedule will take place all day on Thursdays. Rather than spreading the days out all week each grade level will have their common planning on Thursday of each week. We certainly want to send out a big THANK YOU to our kindergarten paraprofessionals and their teachers for making this happen for our school. As soon as the revised schedule is complete we will send it out to everyone.
Non-Classroom Intervention
We are currently working on a schedule for non-classroom intervention and will have that out to everyone by the end of the week. Our goal is to begin implementing this schedule in 3-5 grades next week.
Challenge Program
We would ask that grades 3-5 begin to work on a list of students that you feel need additional instruction prior to testing in April. We have a form that needs to go home to parents this week. As students return these please compile a list of those who will be attending and be sure to keep these forms on file until the end of the year. I would also ask that any teacher interested in working the program to let me know ASAP.
