Mason Moose Minutes November 11th!
Message from the Principal
Dearest Mason Families,
Happy Friday and Happy Veterans Day! I truly want to express my sincerest gratitude to all of our dear veterans, who have served and fought for our beautiful country! May this special day be celebrated each year with much respect for their honorable work and sacrifices!
Today was also a special day where our Mason family did an exceptional job during our practice evacuation drill! All of our students and staff transitioned from Mason to Parcells in a calm, respectful, responsible, and safe manner. I was so proud of each and every student and staff member! Thanks to the efforts of all, this was a successful drill and displayed teamwork at its finest!
As we look ahead to next week, we are excited about our Mason Best assemblies scheduled for Monday! We look forward to recognizing our dear students as leaders of the month, and for their academic excellence and growth in the areas of literacy, math, science and social studies! Furthermore, students who display their Mason Best with acts of kindness will also be recognized! During the assemblies, we take pride in amplifying students' voices by having them share their learning experiences, goals they have set for themselves, and ways they have shown progress toward their goals or achieved them!
I hope this weekend is filled with shared family dinners and collaborative conversations! If you need anything, know we are here to address any needs and as always... Teamwork it is! Together we learn, together we lift, and together we lead!
One Mason, One Family, One Team!

Parent Volunteers Are Welcomed!
Mason Elementary School students are attempting to break a world record in our PE classes and we need your help to make it happen!
With the partnership of the World Speed Stacking Association, Mason is taking part in the 2022 Stack Up! Any student, staff member, or family member who participates in a registered Mason stacking event for at least 30 minutes (one PE class) will add to the total number of participants worldwide. If the grand total reaches over 638,503 stackers then we will break the current world record for the Most People Sport Stacking at Multiple Locations... Mason would be a part of world record history!
If you are able and interested in joining your child's PE class during this world record attempt on November 15th (B day), 16th (C day), or 17th (D day), please make sure you have a current ICHAT form on file in the Mason office and SIGN UP HERE so we know you are coming and we have enough cups for all!
Let's do this, Mason Moose!
Hungry Howies Pizza Days
GPPSS and Chartwells are excited to bring back Hungry Howies pizza days. Our next upcoming pizza date is December 2nd.
One complete meal will include one (1) slice of pizza, fruit or vegetable. Students must take food from a minimum of three food groups and a maximum of five to be considered a meal. Any student (regardless of free/reduced status) will be charged $2.00 for each additional slice of pizza. Please have a conversation with your child(ren) about your expectations for the amount of food they request prior to pizza day so you do not incur additional charges unexpectedly. You can always check your student’s balance in MiStar under Cafeteria, and click the link to the right of that balance to add funds. We’re looking forward to your cooperation so our pizza days are a success this year.

Next Communities United in Diversity meeting Nov 10th
In our ongoing efforts to celebrate diversity within our schools, GPPSS will be continuing our Communities United in Diversity meetings this school year with monthly sessions for the community. This group is a parent-initiated group that began over 10 years ago in GPPSS.
Come to our next meeting on December 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Monteith and meet this year’s facilitators, GPPSS teachers Emily Rennpage and Nick Symonette. Learn how we incorporated survey responses from staff and past participants into this year’s topics and get an inside look into some of the diversity initiatives currently in place.
Over the course of the next eight months, we hope to discuss and reflect upon real situations our students are encountering and how we, as educators, parents, and community members, can support all of our students toward a greater awareness and appreciation of diversity in our community and beyond.
Mark your calendars for our upcoming meetings and look for more information to come on locations and topics.
