Welcome Back to School Newsletter 2013
Welcome Back to School!
We wish to welcome all of our students and families to the new school year! The doors opened Tuesday, September 3rd, with smiling faces eager to start the new school year. We look forward to an exciting year at Groveland as we work together to support our students and help them grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
We firmly believe that communication between home and school is of the utmost importance for our students' success. This year we will continue to use this electronic version of our school newsletter. Veggie Garden News
Grade Level Volunteers needed for the Vegetable Garden!
The Groveland Veggie Garden is looking for parent volunteers to work with individual classrooms. This volunteer would be in charge of organizing planting activities (which would be selected for you) in the garden either in the Spring or the Fall depending on what grade level you choose. You would work with other members of the Garden Committee and you do not necessarily need to be present for the planting times.
If you would like to learn more about this opportunity or simply ask questions, please email Jill Jankowski at jilljankowski73@gmail.com or call 973-477-1810.

First Graders Hold Lemonade Stand
By Mrs. Lauren Kline
The former Extended Day Kindergartners, now first graders, organized and held a lemonade stand on Thursday, August, 22. This event not only marked the end of their summer session, but it also signified what Groveland stands for: Giving Back.
The students spent time each day planning, organizing, and even cooking for their lemonade stand. Held on the playground, teachers, parents, siblings, and friends all joined in the fun. The students were able to collect $186.25 which they will donate to Lulu’s Rescue. Lulu’s Rescue is a non-profit organization that focuses on rehoming dogs and cats in need and educating about the importance of spaying/neutering. With our donation one dog will be completely vetted (microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm tested, neutered or spayed).
Thank you to all of those that participated and their extreme generosity. This is just another example of how powerful we are as a school community and the difference we can make together. Way to go First Graders, you are true Great Grizzlies through and through!
