Pakistan used to be apart of India until they gained their independence in 1947. Then there was West Pakistan and East Pakistan. Soon enough West and East Pakistan started fighting. The war started after thousands of people were killed when the Pakistani troops launched operation searchlight. Operation searchlight was a planned military operation carried out by the Pakistan army to curb the Bengali nationalist movement East Pakistan in March 1971. Thus creating the Pakistan and Bangladesh war of independence. The war finally ended when India invaded the country and help take out the Pakistani forces. More than 90,000 Pakistani troops surrendered at the end of the war. East Pakistan finally became Blagladesh. Nobody knows how many people were killed in the Pakistan and Bengladesh war but we do know a huge number of people lost their lives. The Dhaka government says that between 300,000 and 500,000 people were killed. This war affected people by leaving poor economic problems. Pakistan also had money issues after the war.
