Main Character

The main character, Jonas a 12 year-old boy who is sensitive and polite is selected to be the new Receiver of Memory. Jonas doesn't care much about his new task till he starts his training. As soon as he realizes that people give up their freedom for sameness he becomes angry. He gains knowledge from memories that the Giver gives him.
