Sacramental News: The AGAPE
The term “Agape” has Greek origins meaning “Love Feast” and was celebrated in early Christian churches as a memorial to the Last Supper. It’s meaning has similarities to the Jewish Passover dinner, or the Greek custom of having a brotherhood meal before a solemn event. On Wednesday afternoon, as a Mayfield family, we will break bread and share juice together to prepare for the meal our children soon will share at the table of our Lord on Saturday, April 30th at First Eucharist.
This Agape Prayer Service is a mandatory event for all second graders and at least one parent. Both parents certainly are welcome to attend this joyful service that will last around forty-five minutes. Please call if you have an unavoidable conflict. We look forward to seeing you on Thursday afternoon.
Logistics: The second graders will wear regular uniform to school on Thursday, and will remain in the classroom after school where we will provide them with a light snack. Parents will meet their children in the Hayden Performing Arts Center at 4:00pm.

Faith Matters: Share Your Love during Lent
In the Gospel, Jesus asks us to love God and to love our neighbors. We receive unconditional love from God, but God desires our love as well. Being in a loving relationship with God allows us to trust in Him, lean on Him, and put Him first in our lives. There is a simple way for all of us to show God our love for Him, by offering our most precious commodity: time. So this Lenten season try to pray every day, go to Mass every week, and never push away God for other less important things.
When we share our love with others we bring Christ to them. We can spread love to others this Lenten season by meeting someone new, smiling at someone, holding a door for someone, paying compliments, showing someone our kindness, being a good friend, and through forgiveness. I am sure you can think of many other ways.
Remember to share your Love during this Lenten season!
