Second Grade Cognitive Abilities Screener
1) to opt their child out of taking the Cognitive Abilities screener and testing altogether.
2) if an online student - to take the CogAT screener in the building (onsite). If you choose this, your building ELP teacher will be in touch with you to set up a time to come onsite to take the screener.
3) to take the screener remotely (via Zoom) with the ELP teacher and a small group of students. The Mann ELP teacher has already sent out a Google Form to all online program students' parents for them to make this choice and choose dates/times that work for your child to take the screener.
All onsite 2nd graders, at Mann Elementary, will be taking the screener on Wednesday, March 24th. If you do not wish to have your child tested, please contact me (Mrs. Diane Bradford) or your child's teacher and let one of us know.
If your child qualifies (based on the screener) to take the full battery of the CogAT, this will take place between May 3rd - May 21st. If your child does not qualify, but you would still like to nominate your child to take the full battery, you are welcome to do so after the screening has taken place.

This year, we will be working on a unit called Imagineering in a Box. Have you ever wondered how theme parks come to life? Disney Imagineers from hundreds of career disciplines around the world share how they use a wide range of skills – from story development and conceptual design, to math, physics and engineering – that all come together to create immersive experiences. Imagineering in a Box allows students to explore different aspects of theme park design, from characters to ride development, as they design a theme park of their very own.
