No Name Calling Week- January 13-17th

No Name-Calling Week is celebrated each year in schools across the nation. It is a time for students, educators and schools to talk about ways to challenge bullying and stop name-calling in their communities. By showing kindness and respect to all, we can make our schools a better place to be! No Name-Calling Week was inspired by the book “The Misfits” by James Howe. It is a story of four best friends who were tired of all the taunts and teases in their school. They came up with the idea of a No Name-calling day in the book but the idea spread to what it has become today. We have to remember to respect one another, accept our differences, learn from each other and believe in ourselves.

National School Counseling Week is always celebrated the first full week in February.

Mindful Mandalas

Mandalas are a mindful meditation practice that lets you channel your thoughts and emotions into a piece of artwork. We get lost in the symbolism, patterns, and color choices as we begin to process our feelings. Creating these artistic mandalas is just one of the many ways the counselor can help students talk through the emotions they encounter daily.

The Five Love Languages

We give and receive love in various ways. In order for us to improve our relationships with our children, we have to understand their love language. Understanding it, helps us to communicate and can help you improve your relationship with your child. Below you will find a quiz your child can take to identify their love language, and an explanation guide to help you understand them more.
