College & Career Ready Elks
There is a new face in the office this year!
My name is Kaitlin Houk and I have previously worked with BHS freshmen for the last five years. I am now the NEW College and Career Readiness Coordinator on campus! I coordinate our AP, Dual Credit, and AVID programs on campus but most importantly I'm here to assist our BHS students in gearing up for a successful life after high school.
If you need college and career counseling, you can schedule an appointment with me on the website here. I usually see students and/or parents from 8:00-9:00 am. I understand that not all schedules can accommodate that time schedule so you can schedule a phone conference if needed. I am available to help with college and career planning, college entrance exams, scholarships, and FAFSA.
Dual Credit students, please make sure you are enrolled in the appropriate courses through Hill College before school starts. Please send me an email if you have any questions!
It is going to be a fantastic year! I can’t wait to serve you guys in my new role.
School Nurse Information
Back to School Medication Information:
Per the BISD Medication Administration Guidelines, "Students are not permitted to carry any medication (prescription or over-the-counter) and may be subject to the school district's discipline management plan if in possession of medication." Exceptions to this, with completed and signed form(s) as listed below on file with the school nurse, would be: asthma inhaler, Epi-pen for severe allergy, diabetic supplies or Solu-cortef. Click link to view guidelines.
Remember, new medication forms must be filled out and signed by a parent or guardian and physician each new school year.
● An Emergency Action Plan for Asthma is required for students with asthma.
● An Emergency Action Plan for Severe Allergic Reaction is required for students with Epi-Pens.
● A Seizure Action Plan is required for students with seizures.
● A Medication Administration Form is required for all prescription and/or over-the-counter medications.
● A Special Procedures Form may be required for other special needs.
● A Diabetic Management Plan from your student’s physician is required for all students with diabetes.
If you need forms, you may access them on the Burleson ISD website.
