Cedar Grove Friday Flash
February 2, 2024
Dear Cedar Grove Families:
Congratulations to our fifth grade students in chorus and instrumental music for their excellent performances last Friday at our winter concert. Special thanks to Mrs. Arellano and Mr. Kieft for all their efforts in preparing students for this amazing evening!
Thank you to our students and their families for attending our Read-A-Loud Night last night. It was a fun evening of listening to great stories and enjoying time together as a school community. Also, thank you to our PTA and Mrs. Hirschhorn for organizing special events such as this.
There are many amazing things happening during the school day to support the learning of our students! At times, some students need some extra support to master new learning. MCPS has gathered resources that are free or low cost to families. These resources directly align with our curriculum used to teach our students each day. Let us know if you have any questions about your student’s academic progress.
We hope you can join us at the general PTA meeting on Tuesday, February 6 at 7:00 p.m. Mrs. Spoales, our wonderful school counselor, will be sharing information about her role at the school and the many things that she does to support and assist our students and families.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Mr. Wynne and Mrs. German

Culture of Literacy Night for Cluster Schools
Ever wonder how to keep your elementary student interested in reading as they continue through middle and high school? The media program at Damascus High School is hosting a very special evening to enhance your student's culture of literacy! This is open to families of all grade levels – Kindergarten through 12th grade -- and presented by the Damascus High School and Baker Middle School media specialists. It is on Thursday, February 8 at 7 PM in the DHS media center. Please RSVP by using the QR code in this flier.
Reminder - Chromebooks for Home Use
We know that there is the possibility that MCPS will move to virtual learning should we have additional closures due to snow. If this occurs, it is important for children to have a device from which they can access learning on those days. If you do not have a device at home, this is the time to order one from our central office, as Cedar Grove will not be sending devices home. Please complete the Chromebook Form to Distribute to Families to request a home use Chromebook. It takes some time to get the home use device sent to Cedar Grove to distribute to your children, so please consider that when you decide to request a home use device.

Parents, please click on your child's grade level to view class weekly newsletters. Any questions regarding the content of the newsletters should be directed to your child's teacher. Thank you.
