WMS Weekly Warrior
Week of 10-7-19
With the changing colors of the trees and the cool evenings, we can truly say fall is officially here. Fall also indicates that WMS is in high gear with many events and activities.
Students participating in this years Capstone experience class are attending the Skills 21 workshop fall Kick Off Event at Basement Systems in Seymour. This event will help our students as they prepare for this year's Expo Fest 2020. The theme for this year's event is Breaking Boundaries.
Thank you to those who continue to provide feedback to us regarding what you would like see in our Weekly Warrior. As you can imagine, many decisions are made throughout the year regarding the everyday procedures of the school concerning what we believe is best for students. Although we do not post all of the decisions in this newsletter, we encourage you to contact us if you have any questions regarding our school.
One topic that seems to have everyone abuzz is the addition of extra reading during Family. The WMS staff and administration feel Family is an outstanding program, that over the past two years, has provided a place for students to make positive connections during school. With that, we have added a reading component to Family two times a week in hopes of fostering our community of readers. The reading portion of Family is in the early stages of development and we are looking to incorporate reading activities such as a group read aloud, One Book One Family, and book of the month, to name a few. The purpose of this is twofold; one, we want to keep the Family time exciting and two, we want students to participate and enjoy a group literacy project. We hope this answers some of your questions.
PIM will hold their monthly meeting Tuesday, October 8th at 7:00 in the WMS LMC. Please join us for this informative meeting.
