The Rise

Nintendo was founded in 1889 in Kyoto Japan as a playing card company by a man named Fusajiro Yamauchi, and for the next 91 years was primarily a toy production company. In 1965, a man by the name of Gunpei Yukoi was hired as an engineer for the company. Mr.Yukoi fixed and invented many things for the company. In 1980, video games were rising in popularity, after the successful Atari 2600, and Nintendo decided to devote their attention to that industry. Gunpei Yukoi was on his way to work on a subway one day, and saw a bored buissness man playing with a pocket calculator.
