BBEC Families:

It's been an interesting start to February! With weather and illness we have missed a lot of school. Hopefully, that will start to improve as we are doing so much in class each day.

Believe it or not, we celebrate the 100th day of school this week. It is exciting to see the growth of our students at this point in the year.

Next week, we have Parent/Teacher Conferences. This is a great opportunity to connect with your child's teacher and to learn what they need to work on to prepare for Kindergarten. We also begin to consider next year as we head into February. If your child is moving on to Kindergarten next year, please consider attending the Kinder Visits that each Elementary School offers in March. Also, the district is asking each family to complete a Family Engagement survey during this time period. It can be accessed at the following link: https://forms.gle/b2owB7tkoLv3uM2b6. The window for completing the survey is February 7th through the 18th.

A small note about safety as we get into the heart of Winter: please remember to buckle up your child when you are entering and leaving our Parking Lot. Also, remember to avoid double-parking as this impacts other families and is unsafe.

We very much look forward to seeing most of you next week! Have a safe and healthy February and thank you for the privilege of working with your children!

We still have spots for qualifying children!

If you know someone who has a child under 5, please pass our information along. To apply, call Janeth at 620-371-1264 or the office at 620-371-1220 to schedule an appointment.

TALKING POINTS

The Dodge City Public School District wants to communicate with you! This year we have implemented a new system that allows us to send you messages via text or the Talking Points App on your cell phone. You can receive messages from the school such as newsletters and school cancelations.

If your phone number is correct in the school database, you should have already received messages from Bright Beginnings. Please make sure your number is updated in our system by checking with the office staff.

You can receive the messages via text or you can download the app from iTunes or Google Play. If you need help receiving these messages, you can speak to your classroom teacher or the office staff to get you started.

Connections are KEY!

There are 4 Elements of Connection that build relationships. When we form these relationships, we help foster safety and feeling loved (connections) that lead to using the problem solving skills and learning. When I had the opportunity to travel to Florida to learn even more about Conscious Discipline, we practiced this a lot! I wanted to share this with you and give you the opportunity to do the same with your families.

Eye Contact, Touch, Presence, and Playfulness.

Use handshakes, games, I love you Connections, and more to strengthen these relationships and connections.

See the attached flyer to give you more details.

Well Wishes!
