Exciting updates to our kitchen and MPR coming this summer!

You may have noticed the zoning and fire permits posted on our front doors and wondered, "What is going on?" Well, we have big news to share! This summer, our kitchen and multipurpose room will be getting a HUGE and MUCH NEEDED makeover! And, the new plans include an outdoor eating space!

Thanks to an incredible, anonymous and visionary donor, the hard work of an amazing architectural team, and a dedicated construction management team, our staff and students will enjoy a newly designed space for eating, Mass, PE, and assemblies. Our kitchen team will have the space, storage, and equipment to accommodate the growing number of meals they prepare each day to keep your students growing and active! Take a look at what we have planned!

What is Healthy Lamoille Valley?

Healthy Lamoille Valley is a coalition of individuals and community organizations working collaboratively to reduce youth substance misuse and encourage youth to make substance free healthy choices. We are a program of the nonprofit Lamoille Family Center, one of 15 Parent Child Centers across the state providing a network of care for children, families and youth. Primarily grant-funded, we were awarded a Drug Free Communities Grant (DFC) in 2019.

Vision: Lamoille Valley is a safe, supportive and healthy community.

Mission: Healthy Lamoille Valley is a coalition of individuals and community organizations working collaboratively to reduce youth substance misuse and encourage youth to make substance free healthy choices.

Service Area: Healthy Lamoille Valley serves the communities of: Belvidere, Cambridge, Craftsbury, Eden, Elmore, Greensboro, Hardwick, Hyde Park, Jeffersonville, Johnson, Morrisville, Stannard, Stowe, Waterville, Wolcott, Woodbury

What is LAYC?

Lamoille Area Youth Coalition empowers and educates youth to make a positive change for the well-being of our community.

Open to any youth in 6th-12th grade who live in Lamoille County or the Greater Hardwick Area (Hardwick, Craftsbury, Greensboro, Stannard, and Woodbury).

On May 11th, we will be partnering with the Lamoille North Supervisory District on a community event on preventing youth cannabis use. This interactive in-person event will look at where our youth are being exposed to cannabis, alcohol, and other drugs, and how parents and community members can take steps to address and prevent youth use. Middle and high school students are encouraged to attend with their parents or caregivers. We invite all parents and students to participate.

You may be thinking, “I do not have a student in the Lamoille North District, this event isn’t for me.” In fact, this event is open to the entire Lamoille Valley community. Our youth cross town lines for the Tech Center, friendships, sports, services, shopping, and more. While this is a district-level conversation, you probably already interact with Lamoille North students in the community. We invite you to attend! Our youth need you to attend. According to the new data brief from the Vermont Department of Health, “Vermont rates of cannabis use in the past month among people aged 12+ were highest in the country—at nearly twice the national rate.”

Doors open at 6:00 PM for a light dinner. The event is from 6:30-7:30 PM. Please pre-register so we can plan setup and dinner. Registration: https://bit.ly/3OwdgKp
