High School Highlights
Reinventing the urban experience together
December 7, 2015
Can you believe we only have 10 days before the winter break? It seems like we were just opening school last week, doesn't it? And I know there are a lot of things to get done in these 10 days. On top of closing up the semester, there are winter programs to attend, celebrations to participate in, preparing for second semester and making sure your campus is ready to shine at the High School Showcase on January 9, 2016. The middle school had their showcase this past weekend and it was a HUGE success. I can't wait to see all the programs the high schools will highlight.
For our meeting on Wednesday, please be sure to bring your device of choice, your book (I read it but I don't get it) and closing thoughts on big 'take-aways' for your campus, ideas to share about January 9, a 30 second elevator speech about your campus and a special holiday memory to share.

Stem Opportunity for Students
Applications for our STEMpreneur program next February have just opened up! Last year students from Akins and Bowie participated in this STEMpreneur program which consists of a unique combination of STEM & entrepreneurship programs: Pi Bytes + 3 Day Startup:
Pi Bytes: An intensive, computer science camp that teaches Python programming and electronics on the popular Raspberry Pi platform. This essential knowledge will allow students to prototype traffic-light controllers, games, and connected devices.
3 Day Startup Weekend: During one intense weekend, the participants in the the 3DS program will brainstorm ideas, conduct market validation, develop business models, build prototypes, create branding, and pitch their ideas to a panel of successful entrepreneurs from the Austin tech and education technology space. The camp will take place at the startup accelerator Capital Factory.
Please get the word out about the program at schools in AISD. Here are links to the flyer and webpage that you can share:
