INTRODUCTION TO EDMODO

Description:

Thinking about using Edmodo in your class? In this exercise, you will create a practice group and a practice student. You will then follow the steps to post a note, alert, assignment, quiz, and a poll.


DEVICES:

Edmodo works on both iPads and PCs. Two netbooks (or a desktop PC and a netbook) are the recommended devices.

STEP 1: Log into Edmodo and create a practice group.

STEP 2: CREATE A PRACTICE STUDENT ACCOUNT AND JOIN YOUR GROUP.

If you have two computers, complete this step on the second computer.

If not, log out of Edmodo.


Follow the instructions at the link below to sign up as a student and have that student join your group.

STEP 3: AS A TEACHER, SEND A NOTE TO YOUR PRACTICE CLASS.

If you want to share something with your students, simply log on with your teacher account and send a Note by following the instructions at the link below.

STEP 4: AS A STUDENT, RESPOND TO THE NOTE FROM YOUR TEACHER.

If you want to respond to something your teacher or classmates said to the Group, you can reply to the post by logging in as a student and following the instructions at the link below:

STEP 5: AS A TEACHER, MAKE AN ASSIGNMENT TO YOUR GROUP.

Creating an assignment on Edmodo is easy. Assignment Posts will show up in the group members' Communication Stream, and will automatically be added to the group members' Planners. The group members can easily turn in the assignment right in Edmodo. To post a new Assignment to one or more groups, log on as a teacher and follow the instructions at:

STEP 6: AS A STUDENT, TURN IN YOUR ASSIGNMENT.

To turn in an assignment, log in as a student, and follow the instructions at:

STEP 7: AS A TEACHER, CREATE AND GIVE YOUR CLASS A QUIZ IN EDMODO.

It's easy to get started creating Quizzes for your classes. Follow the instructions at the link to create a quiz and send it to your students.

STEP 8: AS A STUDENT, TAKE A QUIZ IN EDMODO.

Log on as a student, and follow the instructions line below to take a quiz:

STEP 9: AS A TEACHER, GRADE A QUIZ.

To grade a quiz your student(s) have taken, log on as a teacher and follow the instructions at the link below:

STEP 10: AS A TEACHER, CREATE AND SEND A POLL TO YOUR STUDENTS.

To create and send a poll, log on as a teacher and follow the instructions at the link below:

STEP 11: AS A STUDENT, COMPLETE A POLL.

Log on as a student and take a poll by clicking to choose your answer, and then clicking the Vote button.

STEP 12: AS A TEACHER, VIEW THE RESULTS OF A POLL

STEP 13: AS A TEACHER, SEND AN ALERT TO YOUR GROUP.
