Why National Board Certification (NBC)?
- Recognized as the gold standard in teacher certification, the National Board believes higher standards for teachers means better learning for students
- National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs) help to strengthen a continuum within teaching spanning all the way from per-service teachers to teacher leaders
- There is increasing evidence about the positive impact of NBC
- Schools with many NBCTs have strong professional communities. These schools are characterized by higher rates of teacher morale, retention, and community involvement
- The presence of NBCTs demonstrates the school's commitment to excellence to students and the entire learning community
