RCC Orientation for High School Students

(This is copied from an email students received on August 12, 2020)

The following are instructions on how to participate in a very special orientation session for high school students attending RCC. If you are a new student, this is an AMAZING resource to better understand how to navigate the campus and its resources.

Each section contains video and in-depth instructions on how to access things like Moodle, Self-Service, and so much more!

As a returning student, this may be helpful to refresh on how to navigate the virtual campus.

Once you have accessed this course, you will be able to refer back to it at any time within the Moodle portal.

Please follow these steps to complete your orientation course in Moodle:

Step 1: Click on Accessing the CCP Orientation Course and follow the steps to enroll in the course.

Step 2: If prompted for your username and password, please use the username and password that you use for Moodle. If you need to find those, please follow the instructions in Enrolling RCC Accounts.

Step 3: Complete the course by clicking on each topic, items within the topics, knowledge checks, assignments, and final assessment by August 21st. (Mandatory)

The RCC Fall semester will begin August 17th: to provide you with additional resources and support for the coming semester, we have prepared the above online orientation as previously mentioned when you registered for classes. You will access this orientation through Moodle (which is also where you will be accessing your college courses). Please follow the directions we have provided in this email for accessing Moodle and the orientation course.

This orientation is mandatory and must be completed between now and the Friday of the first week of classes (8/21). You can be withdrawn from your classes if you do not complete the modules within the orientation!

We will also be hosting a live question and answer session that you and your parents are invited to on Monday, 8/17 and on Thursday, 8/20 from 6 p.m to 7 p.m. RCC representatives will be in this live session to provide support after you complete the online orientation. Please follow this link to access this live session:

You must return all overdue textbooks or pay for lost textbooks prior to receiving your new books!

For Seniors

Effective in the 2020-2021 school year, two doses of meningococcal conjugate vaccine are

required for North Carolina students. One dose is required for individuals entering

the seventh grade or by 12 years of age. The second booster dose is required for

individuals entering the 12th grade or by 17 years of age, whichever comes first.

The requirement for the second dose is new this year. Please turn in your shot record to the school office as soon as possible. The deadline is September 3, 2020. If you have questions regarding this new requirement, please feel free to call our school nurse, Monica Hurley, at 336-625-1137.

Transportation

Starting Monday, August 17th, we will have full transportation service. This means that when traditional schools are in session, RECHS students can be picked up from their home in the mornings and taken to a school hub. Students then ride the shuttle from the hub to RECHS. There is no transportation to student homes in the afternoons.

An additional hub at Wheatmore High School begins August 17th. The bus will leave at 8:00, so please be there at 7:50. Report to the bus loading area. PLEASE SEE THIS DOCUMENT ABOUT PARKING. Parents can park in the red highlighted area and students can walk to the bus area.

Student Classlink

RCSS now has a single sign on for all students and staff called ClassLink. Students now can access everything they need with just one login. Students will use their student number and their password (birthdate) to access ClassLink.

Lunch Options

Students are able to bring their own lunch, order from Randolph County School System or order from RCC's Armadillo Cafe. If a student orders from RCSS Child Nutrition, the food is prepared at Southmont Elementary and delivered to RECHS. Once a student submits their order to Southmont Elementary, the school cafeteria will prepare the order for that student. Students need to commit to that order, and pick up their food once it is ordered. The online ordering forms are below.

Student Attendance

All high school teachers are taking attendance each day for students who are in person and those who are remote. Students must check in with their teachers and complete the required tasks to be counted present. Even our juniors and seniors who are in all college classes, need to complete Ms. Blackmon's Google form daily to be counted present. There is a time cut-off for each teacher, so students need to be aware of the time and complete the tasks as soon as possible.

RCC Schedules

Students, please go into RCC's Self-Service to verify your college schedule. If there is anything that needs to be corrected, please contact Mr. Ferguson. If your college schedule does not match what is on your PowerSchool schedule, please contact Ms. Scott.
