Coaching & Consultation
Job-Embedded, Customized Professional Development
Coaching Defined
With any skill or profession, practice and feedback improve performance. People look to others in order to grow: to peers, to experts, or to online resources. Consider dancers, musicians, athletes, surgeons, speakers. Like them, educators can achieve excellence through the guidance and feedback of a coach.
Is it effective?
"Instructional coaching programs, when well designed and executed, create opportunities for high achievement for all children." -(2015) Learning Forward
Our coaching model is based on Learning Forwards Standards for Professional Learning, and lead to quality teaching practices and improved student achievement.
Because it is a personalized experience, coachees receive precise, real-time support on their professional growth journey.
- become more self-directed
- develop their ability to consider varying perspectives
- become more skilled at effective decision-making
- make reflection a habit
- become more effective practitioners
What does coaching look like?
- Sessions are private and personal.
- Coaching can be face-to-face and/or online.
- Coaching is not designed to offer advice, but to allow the coachee to explore their thinking & develop a plan of action.
- A coach guides the coachee through a structured process to establish a focus, plan, problem-solve, and reflect.
- A collaborative cycle can be designed to set outcomes & measures of success.
In what ways might a coach assist?
The needs and goals of the individual or team determine the role of the coach. Our instructional team can provide onsite support to lead customized professional learning for individuals, small groups, and teams.
