The Manning Weekly Update
September 3, 2023

Dear Manning Families,
I hope that you’re enjoying your three-day weekend. It is hard to believe that we are beginning our fourth week of school and it’s September! It has been a great start and I cannot wait to see what this year brings for our Manning Mustangs and greater community!
New this year, I am implementing Coffee with the Principal events here at Manning. This is an opportunity to connect with me, other members of our school community, and learn about various topics. Our first coffee event is coming up on Friday, September 15th, beginning at 8:30am in the library. At this first coffee event, I’ll provide an update on the start of the school year and some of our work this year. We’ll also have an opportunity to hear from our Social/Emotional Learning Specialist, Kari Gray, who will present on Signs of Suicide. I hope that you can join us!
Have a great week!

The ID card dilemma 🙂
We have lanyards in the main office to hole punch cards and hopefully that will help!
What is Achievement Time?
Achievement Time starts Thursday, September 14th
Achievement Time is Manning’s way to keep students aware of their grades and help them repair grades if they fall to an “F” in any one class. This is meant to be a supportive weekly program, not meant to be a punishment. Staff will be available during Achievement time to help provide extra support to help students improve their grade(s).
Below is a brief outline of the Achievement process, please review the Achievement procedures on our website for more details and to familiarize yourself with the program.
- Friday: Grade report is run in the morning, students with an "F" will be notified of required Achievement time.
- Wednesday afternoon: Due date to turn in teacher signed Achievement slip confirming student has improved his/her grade. If a student turns in his/her Achievement slip by the deadline, they will not be required to attend Achievement.
- Thursday 3:30-4:15pm: Achievement Time. Required for students who were unable to improve their grade.

Movie Night Volunteers Needed | StuCo is hosting a movie night for students on Friday, September 15 and needs some parent volunteers to help ensure the evening runs smoothly! Please sign-up if you have some time to share.
Fall Fest | We are one month out from our annual Fall Fest event! If you're new to Manning, Fall Fest is our largest fundraiser of the year and an evening you don't want to miss. This year’s event will take place on Friday, October 6 and offers an opportunity to taste some chili, mingle with others in the Manning community and enjoy an adult-only night at Applewood Golf Course - the best part is all the funds raised go directly back to the school. This is a herculean effort to support every child at the school and we need each of you to lend a hand. That help can come in the form of volunteering to sponsorship to auction donations to attending and bidding on the auction items. We've gathered a list of donation ideas to help get your creative juices going. Fundraising from last year's Fall Festival enabled the PTA to fulfill our amazing teacher's wish lists, purchase new security cameras, provide college scholarships to Manning alumni students, and fund memorable 8th grade continuation ceremonies and picnics. Donating is easy; complete this Auction Donation Form before September 22.
Advisement Room Support Needed | We are still looking for a few more parents to work behind the scenes with the teacher to support the class vision for activities like door decorating competitions or Fall Fest baskets. These activities are a welcomed event by the students and we’re trying to better support them by easing the load for the teacher. The parent will receive the class-voted on ideas from the teacher to then create a sign-genius to share with the parents in that classroom. Time commitment is low and all done from the comfort of your home! Teachers still needing an Advisement Room parent are: Fulton, Hageman, Hovinen, Hughes, Keodonexay, Laydon, Page and True. If this sounds like the gig you’ve been waiting for, please complete this short form and we’ll set it up!
Join The PTA | Please sign up for your PTA membership today! The PTA is integral in supporting our kids, teachers and staff. Membership is only $10 for the year and gives you the opportunity to vote. The more voices we have, the stronger our school is!
Free Money for Manning | Did you remember to sign up to earn free money for our school? It’s quick and easy. Be sure to link your King Sooper's rewards to The Manning School PTA!
PTA Meeting | We hope you can join us for the first PTA Meeting of the 2023-24 school year September 21 at 3:45PM in the library. This is your opportunity to join the conversation on how we can best support our middles independence.
