Dear Parents and Carers,
What a lovely week we have had in school this week! The weather has been brighter which has meant we have made good use of the outdoors. EYFS have had their outdoor area re-painted with a new road design and this week they have been trying out all our new bikes and scooters which they have all thoroughly enjoyed.
Our worship this week focused on perseverance and the additional challenges that come with learning outdoors but also the added benefit that it brings for our physical and mental health.
We have had a couple of visitors to school this week who commented on how well behaved and polite the children are. This is always lovely to hear and makes me very proud.
Covid-wise, our case numbers thankfully remain low. Thank you for all you are doing to ensure that we keep school as safe as we can from the virus, be that regular lateral flow testing, hand washing and keeping us informed. It is having an impact!
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Karen Williams

Times Tables Rock Stars
This week saw the restart of our TTrockstars and Numbots club. It was lovely to see the enthusiasm in the children (even if quite a few of them beat my scores!). This will continue to be on every Thursday lunchtime, either in Jaguars class or Earthworms.
This week we welcome the Tigers class to TTrockstars! I can't wait to see who will win the first TTRockstars certificate next week. Our winners in KS2 are: Ralphie W in Sharks, Alexa K in Earthworms, Olivia P in Jaguars, and Florence L in Wolves, and our class of the week is Tigers! Well done to everyone for working so hard!

If your family circumstances change, you may become eligible. Please see the North Yorkshire website below for more information and to access the relevant application forms. Once your application has been processed, school will be notified automatically . If you require any support with understanding Free School Meals and Pupil Premium funding or help with your application, please call one of our admin team who will be happy to advise.

NYES Catering Competition
Brief
- We want to inspire primary and secondary pupils to get creative and design our new mascot based on what they would like to see from a catering mascot. Will they have powers, or be food related, or be a team with a leading mascot, or have sibling mascots (one for primary schools, one for secondary schools) – the pupils are the deciders in this one-off competition!
We’ve even enlisted the help of a 12-year old who previously attended one of our catered primary schools and loves superheroes as well as food – so we feel he will be a fantastic help in deciding the winner! He will be assisted by 2 of our in-house judges. We are all really looking forward to seeing all of the brilliant designs, and hearing about what the mascot designed means to the pupils, and the fun they have creating them.
The winner will see their mascot design come to life! This includes within our marketing from September 2022 and beyond.
How to enter
- Simply email your designed mascot (and it’s name) to: charlotte.firth@northyorks.gov.uk
Please include your pupil’s name, age, and details of the school they attend.
Deadline: 17:00 on Saturday 12th February 2022.
The winner will be announced on Wednesday 23rd February 2022.
Follow us on Facebook and Twitter to keep up to date with the latest competition developments!
Maximum age to enter is 18.
The best of luck to all – time to get creative!
