Community Service Opportunities
Don't miss out on two special community service opportunities for seniors!
1. Call Connections- virtual volunteer opportunity that allows you to provide companionship to senior citizens with the local Senior Services Center who have been isolated due to COVID-19. Volunteers make one to two phone calls a week for a minimum of 6 months. Each call lasts between 15 and 30 minutes. You will receive training on what to discuss and how to engage the senior in a conversation.
Register in your Crosby Scholars Student Portal by October 5 to participate in this volunteer opportunity. Crosby Scholars staff will connect you to Senior Services to schedule your training. All questions can be directed to aconte@crosbyscholars.org.
2. Crosby Scholars Letter Writing Campaign- Every year Crosby Scholars benefits immensely from the hard work and generosity of our donors, school liaisons, board members, and community volunteers. As a way of saying thank you, Crosby Scholars would like to send these individuals personal letters, written by you all, which demonstrate the impact of their contributions. Students will receive two hours of community service for writing 10 letters. If you are interested in participating in this opportunity, please email aconte@crosbyscholars.org by October 5th.
Continue to check out the Community Service page on our website for updated opportunities for you to participate in the fall. The requirement deadline is January 31st, so DON'T DELAY!
Yoga for Relaxation and Stress Relief
Practicing yoga has many health benefits, including increased strength and flexibility; stress reduction; better posture; improved concentration; mindfulness; and better breathing. You can experience these benefits by investing as little as 15 minutes a day in the practice of yoga.
Click here for a 15-minute video of yoga stretches to help you unwind and destress.
