Brave Writer Webinar Series
Exciting news Brave Writer fans! For those of you who were not able to make it to Julie Bogart’s Inspiring Talk in Orange County or Long Beach, here’s your chance. EVERYONE can learn from her engaging wit and wisdom during Inspire’s Brave Writer webinar series. First Wednesday of the month beginning April 3 from 1-2. Free for everyone, but please RSVP for the April 3rd webinar to ensure we have Zoom room capacity for all: https://tinyurl.com/BraveWriterRSVP-April3
Sign up for one, two, or all three sessions and walk away with tips and tricks to enchant your child’s writing journey. Learn it now and take writing outdoors to change up your routine. Or learn how to make writing more fun even if it’s at the kitchen table.
#1 April 3 - The Writer’s Jungle: A Survivor’s Guide to Writing with Kids Help! You have a child who hates writing. Or, your child is so prolific at writing, you’re afraid you aren’t helping her enough. Or, your child writes well, but the results are wooden and tedious to read. Or, your child as the best imagination ever, but punctuation, spelling, and mechanics are atrocious. Or, you’re afraid of writing yourself and have been avoiding it for, oh, the last (yes, you admit it) four years. Gulp!
#2 May 1 – Writing Across the Curriculum Writers like to write about what they find interesting. Writing Across the Curriculum Teaches you how to develop your students’ abilities to hone skills in writing across the curriculum, narrowing their chosen subjects and determine subtopics.
#3 June 5 - Help for High School is a self-directed writing program for teens that both teaches rhetorical thinking in writing, as well as the academic essay formats for high school and college. Teens work independently of their parents, however models of completed assignments and rubrics for feedback are included, as well.

Special Education Newsletter- April 2019
From our wonderful department of Special Education:
"Spring is just around the corner! We can definitely see a difference in our students this time of year. We have a long stretch of instruction without interruption and consequently, it is also the time when students want to be outside and having fun. Please encourage your child to continue to work to his/her fullest potential, even when the weather is calling them outside. We are excited for them to “show what they know,” as the school year begins to wind down. Thank you for all your daily hard work and please let us know how we can assist you."

Vendor Spotlight: Fashion Camp
Fashion Camp in Tustin is the ultimate creative learning space! Summer 2018 marked their 8th year of summer camps, and their 7th year as a stand-alone business. They began with a community education program through Orange Coast College in 2010 with just 20 excited and enthusiastic campers. They then moved to a location at The OC Mart Mix/SoCo Collection, in Costa Mesa, California in 2011. Today, they are located at The District at Tustin Legacy in a 3,000 square foot fashion studio, where they see hundreds of young fashion designers a year!
Because this is a learning based camp, they have a high camp counselor:student ratio (comparatively to other summer programs). For most of their camps and classes, they operate at about a 1:5 ratio. Their fashion-filled curriculum includes:
- Membership Program
- Daily Beginning Sewing Classes
- Sewing Workshops
- Fashionable Funday Workshops
- Sketching Workshops
- Summer Camps
- Holiday Camps & Workshops
- Homeschool Programs
- Girl Scout Programs
- Birthday Parties
- Create Your Own Class Workshops
- On-Campus After School Enrichment Programs
Off Site Home School Campuses & Programs
They invite you to drop by their space! This is usually the best way for parents to get a feel for the place and staff.
About The Instructors
Fashion Camp – Create. Design. Sew. was created in 2010 by Erin Bianchi Hibbert. Today, Fashion Camp operates one Orange County location, at The District at Tustin Legacy. They have over 20 trained instructors who teach with them, each with their own unique talents. All have attended or are attending fashion design school, and many work elsewhere in the industry (local designers, merchandise coordinators, pattern makers).
Homeschooling Advice
Year-Round Homeschooling: Don't you need a break?
'My biggest “issue” with the traditional September-through-May school year is that I felt like we needed a little more time off during the holidays, especially since we have to travel a lot during that season to visit family.
A second reason is that I felt like my kids could better enjoy a “break” during the best season of the year (which here in Texas happens to be spring). During the hot days of summer (which are very long and hot indeed!), we have to spend a lot of time indoors to escape the heat; why not do school while we’re at it?'
