Immersion Education – Teaching academic content in another language

Hello Fronteras Families!

What a fun school year so far! Even though the days and weeks are whipping by, we’re loving all the memories we’re making together through the classroom projects, Heritage celebrations, and field trips! And the great part is that there is more to come! Classrooms are working on their Thanksgiving activities, and coming up December 6th, we will all travel to the Glenn Massay Theater to watch the Alaskan Nutcracker again this year. A couple weeks after that we will be having a blast together for Pajama Day December 20th!

Thank you to everyone who was able to make it to Parent Conferences last Thursday! It’s always great to have that time to catch up for a few minutes! I loved visiting with you as you stopped for coffee or cocoa!

If time allows tomorrow, please stop by our annual Christmas Bazaar from 10:00-4:00pm. It always sounds and smells wonderful! Thank you to parent Becka Lopez for once again organizing this awesome event!

IMPORTANT REMINDER: To accommodate staff traveling to North Carolina for the Seventh International Immersion Conference in February, Fronteras students WILL have school this Monday, November 12th & February 19th. The rest of the district is off from school those two days. Fronteras students WILL NOT have school February 6, 7, 8 while staff is attending the conference. Please see our adjusted calendar in this newsletter.

Thank you again for sharing your children with us! We had a great 1st quarter!

Have a fabulous weekend!

Most Sincerely,

Mrs. Hutchins

Square One Art News!

Fronteras Families,

Today is the last day to send in paper orders for your child’s Square One Art. However, you can still order on-line until November 19th at www.square1art.com. Square One Art is a wonderful opportunity to order items with your child’s art printed on them. These make wonderful gifts for extended families and beautiful art to hang on the walls. This is also a fund raiser for our art program that benefits every student in our school. Each student should have received their personal catalog at parent-teacher conferences or from their home room teacher. Please check with your child’s teacher or Sra. Mead if you have not received your catalog. If you have any question, please email Mrs. Mead or stop by the art room before or after school.

Just a Friendly Reminder.....

Students may not stay after school unsupervised at any time. Any student who stays after school is signed up for a specific sport, After School Enrichment Club or tutoring are being supervised by parent volunteers.

Behavioral Expectations

Parents,

Now that the school schedule has been established, it is still important and necessary to remind your child of behavioral expectations.

When arriving early, it is important that students remain quiet and still while waiting to walk to class at 7:50am. Please encourage your child to remain quiet and still so that the front desk Divas can hear phone calls and answer guest's questions.

Thank you for your support!

Baby, It's Getting Cold Outside!

Colder days are fast approaching! Please make sure your child has proper outdoor gear for recess, including a warm coat! District policy states that students go outside for recess up to -10!

Tuesday Morning Open Gym

In order to alleviate the Tuesday morning lobby congestion during the staff meeting, we are looking for volunteers to coordinate gym activities! We're looking for 3-4 adults from 7:30-8:00am. You can sign-up at the front desk. This is also a great opportunity to get those volunteer hours in!

Need. More. Food.

There has been an influx of students eating their entire lunch at snack time. To keep up with these growing kiddos, we ask that parents please pack a little extra in their lunches.

Lost & Found

Lost & Found will be taken to Good Will on 12/20/18 at 3:00pm! We strongly encourage parents and students to go through it regularly.

The Alaskan Nutcracker Field Trip

We are excited to announce that we have been invited back for a special viewing of the Alaskan Nutcracker at the Glenn Massay Theater on Thursday, December 6th! Permission slips went home with students on Friday, October 26th! Extra forms are available at the front desk and on the website. Please note that we are not taking chaperones this year due to limited seating and that this will be a whole school field trip with all staff and students attending. The school will be closed during the field trip from 10:30am to 1:00pm. If your child does not plan on attending the Alaskan Nutcracker, please make note on the permission slip and turn it in to the front desk and make other arrangements for your child during that time period!

After School Enrichment Clubs

Volunteers are needed to lead After School Enrichment Clubs for Quarter 3 and Quarter 4! If you are interested please contact the After School Enrichment Club coordinator, Jen Manion, at 907-229-4116 or malliesmom@me.com. Get those volunteer hours in!
