The Lego Club By Reese Mount and Ray Blegen
Our LEGO team, the Enfield Disaster Preventers, worked very hard to reduce the destruction of active volcanoes. We used LEGOS to build things that could be used to reduce the destruction volcanoes cause. We have a jet that flies a safe distance away and dumps an earth-friendly powder in the volcano. A giant water tank sprays water as the lava spills out. This cools the the temperature of the lava to minimize the destruction to vegetation and other living species in the path of the lava. The lava
re-direct sits at the base of the volcano and allows the cooler-lava to form the next layer of earth-igneous rock. The giant LEGO-hand stands out as a beacon-of-hope for the people escaping danger.
The Lego club presented their Lego creations at Cornell University last month. This month a new Lego club began after school on Wednesdays!
Women's History Month By Anna E. T. Schroeder
Without these women, we would not be where we are today, women might still not have basic human rights. Without these couragaous women, just ask yourself where would we be today? Women might not even have basic human rights, like education. Not a long time ago women couldn't go to college! Who would you be? Where would you stand? At the top...or at the bottom?
Beavers by Lindsey Hern
Beavers live in the forests of North America. If you don’t know what beavers are, I will tell you. Beavers are placental mammals, not marsupials. Beavers have pouches to hold their young. Beavers build structures out of mud, sticks, twigs, and fallen trees. These structures are called dams or lodges. A beaver lodge is what it lives in. A dam is what beavers build to make an inhabitable place into a beaver’s paradise. Beavers have very big front teeth, so you would understand why they would be gnawing on wood all the time. The two reasons beavers chew on wood are that they need wood to build their lodges. The second reason is that their teeth never stop growing, so they gnaw on wood to file down their teeth.
Fun facts!
1.beavers have big, flat tails that act like rudders in the water
2.beavers are mammals, so their babies are born alive
3.beavers are such fascinating animals ,I don’t even know everything about them !

Indoor Recess By Noa Yamaguchi
Enfield students watch REALLY LLAAMMEE moves inside when the weather is too bad to go out to recess. Some students got tired of this and asked for other choices.
In Enfield school, 5th grade students have clubs that they go to in the library. The clubs are the Pokémon Creating Club, Lego Club & The Power Point Club.
Mrs. Blood & Mr. Brooks let their students stay in the classroom & play board games.
Next year I hope we don’t have indoor recess anymore.
Harry Potter Book Review by Anna E. T. Schroeder
Harry Potter, by J. K. Rowling, is a long-loved book for kids from the ages 6-100. You don’t have to be certain age to read this thrilling, funny, book, with characters that pop out so much that you feel like you really know them. The first book starts out with Harry, an eleven-year-old boy, who lives with his Aunt, Uncle, and Cousin, who all hate him, enough to make him sleep in the cupboard under their stairs. Rowling tells this story in detail and, expresses the feelings of Harry in a way that makes him seem out of place, and insecure. He is having a typically horrible day when he receives a letter, when his mean uncle doesn’t let him read it, he and his cousin eavesdrop on his Aunt and Uncle talking about it, and they say some suspicious things. The entire story is told in amazing detail, with words that make you want to read more and more.
Once you’ve read one book you have to read the next. And when you read them you won’t forget one word, the story is well written, perfectly worded, and no one can compare. Everyone should get to know this book; there is something for everyone in the Harry Potter series, sports, action, and a little romance (later in the series). I highly suggest this novel; you will learn to love it!

Daylight Savings Time by Keanna Walton
Have you lost an hour of sleep this month? Are you yawning a lot? Well here’s why… it is Daylight savings time! They started it about 100 years ago to get better use of daylight by having the sun rise one hour earlier and set one hour.
This year daylight savings time started on March 9th. It is really dark in the morning now. At night it is lighter. I don’t think it is a good idea to have daylight savings because everybody gets confused about the time and they can't remember when the sun sets.
