Teacher Appreciation Week
- Have your child make a thank-you card or project for their teacher. Let them be creative!
- Work together as classroom parents to do something nice for your teacher- this time you get to be creative!
- Offer help- see if your child's teacher wants classroom help with prepping materials, helping kids in the classroom, or reading a book to the class.
Counseling Corner with Mrs. Pfeifer
For the month of April, students have been learning about the character trait of Perseverance. We are learning that we need to be "gritty" and push through challenges in order to reach our goals. Our mantra this month is "I have grit. I won't give up!" It's been wonderful watching our students persevere through their challenges, whether it's in the classroom, outside on the playground, or during activities within the community. We are so proud of our "gritty" students! We will celebrate on Friday, April 21 with Workout Day (wear your best workout attire)!
Spring Concerts with Mrs. Barrett
Katie Williams, one of Northview's outstanding administrative assistants, has been a huge support to Joelle with the fine details of bussing, programs, and communication, which allows Joelle to focus on the kids. Thank you Katie!
Grades 1-4 have been filling the music room with singing, dancing and speaking parts for their upcoming spring music programs. All Northview music programs are curriculum based, reinforcing music concepts that are studied in each grade level, meeting state and national music standards.
The music programs are entertaining for all involved, but require a higher level of learning, including focus, team building, accountability, stage presence, learning dances and moves, singing solos and large ensembles. Original speaking parts are written to allow all students to have their shining moment! This is fourth grades last performance in elementary school. It is a memorable evening for all! We don't look for perfectionism, rather the enjoyment and camaraderie built through working together.

In reading, the 2nd grade students have been reading series books. They are becoming experts on characters such as: Junie B. Jones, Judy Moody, Biscuit, Mercy Watson, Ramona, and many more! In writing, they have been celebrating their love of books by nominating their favorite books to win awards. They are writing nomination letters to prove that their chosen book is worthy of an award! Finally, in math, students have been building their number sense by adding and subtracting numbers that are larger than one hundred. They are even adding numbers that have answers that reach 1,000!

Third Grade has been working hard preparing for and taking the Wisconsin State Forward Test. In celebration of completing, students will be enjoying a movie day on Friday afternoon. In math students have been learning about area and perimeter. During reading and writing time students have started their animal research project. In grammar students focused on learning about parts of speech including prepositional phrases. One activity was making paper airplanes, flying them on the playground, and writing a prepositional phrase about where their plane landed.
