Reflection Corner

Big picture

In this statement Jesus identifies himself as the prophet the Spirit anoints to bring good news to the poor. He will fulfill the words of the prophet Isaiah. He will live these words and gather a community that lives God’s love and mercy into the future. It is on the Sabbath in the midst of his own people in Nazareth that Jesus proclaims the Spirit, the giver of life, will work through him to heal, forgive, set free, and lift people up. Jesus will inaugurate a jubilee era in which the poor and oppressed have a new chance to thrive.

Prayer to the Holy Spirit

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful.
And kindle in them the fire of your love.
Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created.
And you will renew the face of the earth.

by the light of the Holy Spirit
you have taught the hearts of your faithful.
In the same Spirit
help us to relish what is right
and always rejoice in your consolation.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Righteousness is the Virtue of Month

Our morning assemblies this week are led by 7B and Mr. Byrne. They lead the recitation of the Luminous Mysteries. Pope Francis' Intentions for the Month of February is to pray for all victims of violence. Our Lady of Mercy: "Pray for Us"!

School Mass

Thank you to our fourth graders, their families, and teachers, Mrs. Galli and Mrs. Galli-Cruz, for sponsoring our 10:30 a.m. Mass last Sunday. It was a beautiful celebration! Our appreciation to our main celebrant, Fr. Gabriel Wanker, Ms. Cynthia, Ms. Gorman, and members of the school choir for supporting our sponsoring class.

School Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 13th

Next Wednesday at 10:30, the Third Grade class will sponsor a Kindergarten to Eighth Grade Mass to be held the day before Valentine's Day. There will be a special Baptism for one of our second grade students that will take place in the Liturgy. What a wonderful experience for our OLM School to experience the Sacrament of Baptism right in their own Faith Community. Please come and join us and celebrate with the OLM Bulldogs.

Another Catholic Schools Week has ended. Thank you very much for everyone's participation and engagement in the activities we planned for the week. Last week and everyday, we continue to champion the cause of Catholic education and the mission entrusted upon us. Let the light continue to shine!

Crayon Collection Drive 2/11 - 2/22

Please help our Brownie Level 2 Girl Scouts (Abby Rivera, Olivia Peneyra, and Isabel Reburiano) complete their Brownie Project to help others in the community. Bring your old, broken or unwanted crayons to school beginning Mon 2/11 - Fri 2/22. They will have collection boxes in each classroom. All crayons will be donated to the Crayon Initiative, a Bay Area non-profit organization that melts and re-molds the crayons and then delivers them to sick children in hospitals across the United States. Thank you for your support!
