Saint Ignatius Band Announcements

November 9th, 2014

Elyria Football Recap

From beginning to end, I was very pleased with the evening. For our debut of the 2014 Script Cats show, we rocked it. There are a few things we can tweak for this upcoming performance, but this was a fantastic first run.

Great job with the pseudo wet-uniform procedure; if students are available before school to help pack up the remaining raincoats and hats, I would be extremely appreciative. I'll provide some treats for students that are able to help.

Weekly Schedule

Monday -
  • Uniform Return 7:15am-8:00am (there will be a few treats for students that help pack up!)

  • Tux Shirt Fittings during 9th Period

Wednesday -

  • SIJE 3:05 - 4:00pm

  • When more information (location, Mass time) is announced, I'll send a different e-mail. Please be on the lookout!

Tuxedo Shirt Fittings

A representative from Tuxedo Junction will be here on Tuesday during 9th period to fit all students that would like to purchase a shirt through them. The cost is $23 for a white, wing-tip shirt. Checks can be made out to Saint Ignatius High School.

Please only be fitted if you plan to purchase one of the shirts!

Rettig Music Instrument Step Up Sale

Rettig Music in Westlake is having a step-up instrument sale November 19-22nd. I encourage all families to give this some thought; investing in a step up model benefits not only your son, but the entire band as well. There is oftentimes a significant difference in ease of playing and overall tone production from a beginning model to an intermediate model.

If you are a student who is considering pursuing music past high school, this is also a great time to consider moving up to a higher quality horn.

If you have any questions about models or if this investment is worth looking into, please do not hesitate to ask!

Symphonic Band Preview

Starting this week we'll be in full Symphonic Band mode. Students should begin bringing their concert instruments starting on Tuesday. The Christmas Jazz and Symphonic Band concert is on Monday, December 15th at 7pm in the Breen Center. It's going to be a really, really awesome performance. I sincerely hope you are all able to make it (and bring some friends, too!!).
