-A Bird's Eye View-
October 29, 2018
Our Tweetcher for the Week of 10/22 was.....Annisa Bracher and Amy Gardner
These Clinton Intermediate School teachers showcase the student collaboration that is taking place in their learning community by tweeting pictures and video. They also focus on the great STEM projects that are provided in their classroom.
Last week they even had "social media interns", as they chose two students to tweet the learning taking place!
Our Tweetcher for the week of 10/29 is.....Brea Ryberg
Brea is a 5th grade teacher at Clinton Intermediate School, and her classroom Twitter page is filled with pictures of her students learning in new and unique ways. Ms. Ryberg also does a great job of showcasing how she integrates technology into her students' learning. Kudos to her for also highlighting the ways that her Bright Futures partner supports her students.
Great job Brea!

*******FROM THE BUSINESS OFFICE*******
November pay will hit accounts Thursday, November 8th!
Make sure you have set up your account on Navigator –the online portal that houses your claim history and Explanation of Benefits for health insurance. Navigator will also tell you where you are at regarding meeting your 2018 deductible and out of pocket expenses (don’t forget our deductible year rolls over January 1st.) Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need help setting this up. I will also be happy to walk you through the site itself.
The Healthy Habits Wellness Challenge is quickly coming to an end. Thank you to those that participated! CoxHealth should be sending me information regarding participation and I’ll forward that to everyone once I get it.
Have a great week!

GET TO KNOW......Amanda Cothern
*Tell us what you do in the CSD, how long you have been here and why you enjoy being a Cardinal.
I work at Central Office as the Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent and the Board of Education Secretary. I have been with the district for 2 years this month, however I also worked at Central Office in 1997-1998. I am a proud Clinton High School graduate, class of 1992! My favorite part of being a Cardinal is working at Central Office, where I have the opportunity to work with everyone in our district!
*Tell us a little bit about your family/where you are from.
I am from Clinton and have lived here (with the exception of my college years) all of my life. I am married to Donnie Cothern (also Clinton alumni, class of 1990) and we will be celebrating 24 years of marriage next month...whoop, whoop! I have 2 children, Katie (Clinton alumni, class of 2015) and Nate. Katie is currently finishing her senior year at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas where she is studying to be an Athletic Trainer. She plans on applying to graduate school to enter the Physician Assistant's Program. Nate is currently a junior at Clinton High School. He is just starting to think about his future plans and is leaning toward a degree in the medical field as well.
*What is something that people are obsessed with, but you just don't get the point of?
I think I would have to say cell phones (to an extent). I am not glued to mine, so sometimes it is the end of the day before I check it and then I am trying to respond to something that is no longer even relevant...lol! Sometimes my husband will be trying to call me and I have the ringer turned completely off...oops!
*Something that is considered a luxury, but you don't know how you would live without it?
I think Starbucks coffee is a luxury. I am too much of a cheapskate to buy it. However I am pretty sure my co-workers and family would tell you that I cannot live without my coffee and flavored syrups. The cheapskate in me is going to share a little secret with you! You can buy flavored (sugar-free) coffee syrups at TJMaxx, HomeGoods, Marshalls and maybe Ross for like $3.99 to give you that Starbucks-like coffee on the cheap and they have a ton of different flavors....goosebumps just thinking about it! Who doesn't love a cheap alternative? You're welcome!
*First thing you would do if you won the lottery?
Who hasn't enterained this thought, especially with the recent record jackpot amounts lately? My family knows, first and foremost, that life is way too short. I would like to take both sides of my entire family on an all-expenses paid vacation to a private Carribean island somewhere. Next, I would pay off all of my daughter's student loans and pay for my son's college expenses. Finally my sister, Mindy Steinbach, and I would open a new business, a book store/bakery/coffee shop, as we have often talked about how much fun that would be to do together. I could go on and on with this one!
*What are 3 things people would be surprised to know about you?
1. Some people might be surprised that Mindy Steinbach (no we are not twins, she is my older sister...lol), and Jana Matthes (my not older sister-in-law) all work in the Clinton School District.
3. My co-workers already know this about me, but I am the biggest cheapskate or I prefer "bargain shopper", you will ever find. This is my best tip...and again, you're welcome! When you go shopping at Kohl's (after I finally get my 30% off coupon in the mail), head to the closest clearance racks. You must by all means, avoid making eye contact with the mannequins. Those mannequins will be stylin' with the cutest outfits and you are going to fall in love with everything they have on. Then you are going to check the clothing rack next to the mannequin only to find that NONE of these items are even on sale yet! Don't make eye contact with those mannequins or you will end up shelling out more than $200 for one outfit! Ouch!
3. I do have a funny side to me if you haven't already figured that one out.
Congrats X2!
Congrats are in order for CHS Physical Education teacher, Lauren Dykes. Lauren got married on Saturday, October 13th and is now Mrs. Lauren Olson!
Not only that, but Lauren and her husband, George, found out they will be adding another girl to their family!
Congrats Lauren!
