December 2018 Newsletter
Greetings Bloomingdale Families,
It’s hard to believe that another month has come and gone already and that the Holidays are upon us. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving break, and as I look back on the past month I have so much to be thankful for. We had a fantastic Halloween Celebration and honored our veterans with a Veteran’s Day Celebration. We practiced and learned new character traits and celebrated our students with our monthly PBIS assembly. We held an awards breakfast to recognize outstanding student accomplishments and we had our first day to play in the snow. Looking ahead, we will be traveling to Petrova Elementary on the morning of November 29th for an assembly by the J Line Dance Company out of New York City. They will share an anti-bullying and character building message with our students in their own unique way along with the art of dance. We have our holiday concerts on Thursday, December 6th at 10:00 a.m. and again at 7:00 p.m. The evening concert is new this year and we are trying it out. Logistically, we have limited space in the gym. Teachers will be supervising students in their classrooms while the students are not performing, so that there is more room for families to watch their children perform. We ask that you sign your children out after their portion of the program to help with this part of the logistics. We would also appreciate any parent volunteers who are willing to help supervise the classrooms where students are waiting to perform. Again, we are trying something new. We will need everyone’s help to make this event a success. We are hopeful that any inconvenience will be worth the opportunity to host an evening concert here at Bloomingdale.
Other events slated for December include our Monthly Parent luncheon on Friday the 7th, and Holiday Giving on Monday the 10th. I want to remind everyone that our Winter Break begins on December 21st and, therefore, no school on Friday the 21st. Time goes by so quickly this time of year. I encourage everyone to find some to to relax, slow down, and just enjoy the time together.
